The course and treatment of coxarthrosis of the hip joint

Hip coxarthrosis is a deforming arthrosis of the corresponding joint. This disease causes a lot of inconvenience and discomfort, has a tendency to progression, while it is quite common, and its diagnosis most often occurs in the late stages of the disease, which greatly complicates its treatment. Most often, the treatment of coxarthrosis of the hip joint is reduced only to the elimination of its symptoms, although with early diagnosis of the disease, you can at least temporarily stop and minimize the consequences. This disease in the most severe cases leads not only to the deformation of the hip joint, but also to the displacement of many parts of the body and its bias on one side with severe muscle atrophy. As a rule, the disease begins after forty years, and men and women are equally susceptible to it, but in women it is more complicated and develops faster. Some previous diseases, injuries, inflammatory processes may become its causes, and in some cases it is not possible to identify its cause.

The disease itself, coxarthrosis of the hip joint, begins, as a rule, with minor pain during physical exertion in the area of the joint itself, hip or groin. Usually people associate them with anything, but not with the onset of joint deformation. At the same time, its mobility and functionality remain normal, and this can continue for years. It is at this stage that coxarthrosis lends itself best to treatment and prevention, and if it is detected at this moment, then its destructive consequences can be prevented, although changes in the joint at this stage are irreversible - but at least they do not interfere with normal life. Unfortunately, this is far from always the case, and treatment of coxarthrosis of the hip joint begins much later.

Further, the pains are already more pronounced and give to neighboring areas, occurring even at rest. Often at this stage lameness appears, and the normal functioning of the joint is disrupted - restrictions appear in the motor function. Thigh muscles atrophy. As a rule, the treatment of coxarthrosis of the hip joint begins at this stage, but it is already difficult to help with conservative methods. Depending on the causes, the effectiveness of the prescribed treatment and the severity of the disease, coxarthrosis can go to the third stage - at this stage the pains are constant and very intense, the functioning of the joint is very impaired, and the patient cannot move without additional support, because due to impaired gait posture is also deformed, which leads to an increase in the load on the joint and its even greater damage.

Treatment of coxarthrosis of the hip joint depends on its etiology, stage of the disease, general condition of the patient, including age. In the early stages, treatment usually consists of taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to relieve pain, drugs to restore cartilage and, in the absence of an inflammatory process, physical exercises can be prescribed to restore mobility and prevent further progression of the disease. Exercises with coxarthrosis of the hip joint are often very effective, so you should not neglect them, but if an inflammatory process is detected in the joint, they can contribute to its further deformation, so this point needs to be clarified thoroughly. Also, for the prevention of coxarthrosis, diet is also very important, but it should also be prescribed by a doctor, because for different causes of the disease, it can vary. In cases where this disease makes a person disabled and significantly worsens the quality of life, an operation for endoprosthetics, that is, the complete replacement of a diseased joint with an artificial one, is prescribed. This is an expensive operation, but today it is often paid for by medical insurance.
