The drug "Celestoderm" (instructions inform) is available in the form of a cream or ointment. It is a glucocorticosteroid drug used in dermatology.
One gram of ointment or cream contains one milligram of betamethasone valerate. The product is odorless, leaves no unwanted marks on clothing, and is easily washed off. It quickly penetrates the skin and, accordingly, immediately begins to act.

This drug is used to treat eczema (it is a neuroallergic skin disease with itchy and moist inflammation), dermatitis, anogenital itching, neurodermatitis (an ailment caused by malfunctions of the central nervous system), solar dermatitis, psoriasis and other skin diseases.

The drug lubricates the affected areas of the skin or mucous membranes two to three times during the day. If necessary, a waterproof dressing can be applied.
The drug “Celestoderm” (the instruction draws special attention to this) with regular and prolonged treatment can cause the development of local changes in the skin, such as thinning and the appearance of atrophic bands (especially when using occlusive dressings or when capturing skin folds).
This medication is not used to treat rosacea and juvenile acne vulgaris, as well as primary viral infections of the skin - vesicular lichen, chickenpox, and others. In addition, the drug is not prescribed for skin lesions with a fungal or bacterial infection - candidiasis, trichophytosis, impetigo; with dermatosis in patients younger than a year and diaper rash. The drug "Celestoderm" during pregnancy is also contraindicated.
In the absence of the proper effect of using the indicated drug for two weeks, treatment should be discontinued and the patient should choose other appropriate therapy. It should be borne in mind that with secondary microbial infection of the skin, the appropriate antifungal and antibacterial treatment is indicated.
It is not recommended to use the indicated agent for a long period and in large doses, since this is fraught with the development of the systemic action of the main active component - betamethasone.
In pediatrics, this drug is used exclusively on the recommendation of a specialist and under its control, since against the background of its administration, side effects such as suppressing the functioning of the pituitary-adrenal system and the manifestation of symptoms of excessive formation of hormones in the adrenal cortex (hypercorticism) may occur. In addition, a decrease in the release of growth hormones and an increase in the level of intracranial pressure were recorded.
Celestoderm cream with garamycin (active ingredients gentamicin and betamethasone) is used for atopic or seborrheic dermatitis, diffuse neurodermatitis, lichen, anogenital or senile itching, diaper rash, psoriasis, erythroderma, lichen planus , dyshidrosis.
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity, skin tuberculosis, skin manifestations of syphilis, chickenpox, herpes simplex, vaccination, post-vaccination reactions, as well as during breastfeeding. With extreme caution and only in cases of emergency, it is prescribed in the early stages of pregnancy.
