Dmitry Shumilov fell into the group immediately, except for him the first line-up included Peter Plavinsky - songwriter, pianist, Roman Suslov - composer, balalaika, Mikhail Vereshchagin, Mikhail Mitin - drummer, as well as Gor Oganisyan and Arkady Semenov. The debut album recorded with our hero was released in 1986. It is called "Opera-86". The premiere of the next program of the team took place as part of the celebration of the birthday of Rock Laboratory.
An album entitled “Dust on Boots” appeared in 1987. It is named the best release of the year in Moscow. Dmitry Shumilov also takes on the role of a pianist. During these periods, Roman Suslov becomes the vocalist. In 1989, the company "Melody" publishes a vinyl disc, which gained fame among music lovers under its unofficial name "White Plate". Especially for this collection of songs from the first albums of the group were rewritten with better sound. The circulation of the record reached 125,000 copies. Dmitry Shumilov recorded parts of keys and bass for this album.
Since 1989, the group begins to tour Europe. A program called “Ethnic Experiments” is being run in at the performances. After returning from the tour, the collective records the record “And-and-once”. The album is notable for the fact that the group managed to create it within three days of 1992. The high pace of work did not reduce the quality of the product. The album is characterized by aesthetic integrity as well as instrumental art. The group demonstrates this program as part of the Berlin Avant-Garde Music Festival. The album diverges across Russia on proprietary audio cassettes, CDs and vinyls. The premiere of the record is marked by a full house.
In 1995, after a three-year break, a new song, “Fit”, appears. Also comes an anthology dedicated to the decade of the group. The team is working on new songs. In 1997, an album entitled “Scythe on a Stone” was released. It is a collective creation of all participants of "Polite refusal". The disc turned out to be more diverse and avant-garde than the previous work of the group.
