Jason Todd: comics, computer game, movies and the story of Batman's partner

The company that creates comics about the night city defender has a character that very much resembles a "man in a bat suit." The name of this character is Red Cap, he is considered the anti-hero of the Batman series. However, before his name was Robin. The cap is a reborn image of a famous character.

The appearance of the anti-heroic "double" Batman

Robin is actually the fictional character Jason Todd, who is part of a series of graphic novels about Batman. Comic book fans now know him as Red Cap.

What makes him look like the hero of Gotham? A suit of the period when Robin did not cross the line of transcendental aggression and helped his mentor in the fight against crime.

Reincarnated as Kolpaka, he learned to own firearms. At the same time, the arsenal was quite impressive and very similar to the one that Batman uses.

He was Robin in the comic strip No. 366 about Batman and then for five years he did not disappear from the pages of the book "universe." However, later his fate was decided by telephone vote, trusting the fans themselves to take part in choosing the final for the hero. After the vote count, a verdict was issued: "Kill." Fans expressed a slight margin: "Jason Todd must become dead."

So the fan elections passed, but after a while it turned out that one of the users took advantage of the computer vote wrapping. It is not known whether this affected the renewal of character comics, but Jason Todd literally resurrected in one of the 2003 issues.

The Red Cap was chosen for the same reason that Batman made the bat a symbol. It was a way to pass on your fear to criminals.

Meeting Batman, or Jason's New Life Story

Todd's appearance and subsequent emergence as Robin is very foggy. At first, his story was presented as a “copy” of Grayson, allegedly he was born in a family of acrobats and was the adopted son of Bruce Wayne.

In the comic strip entitled “Crisis in Endless Lands,” Jason Todd is presented as an orphan, whose father, working for Two-Face, disappeared, and his mother died from an overdose of drugs.

From that moment on, the antihero finds a new story. Jason Todd, the comic book about which continued the story of Batman, also tells the story of their meeting. Bruce Wayne finds Jason stealing wheels from a Batmobile.

Gotham's defender spotted the bully at the school where Todd was to be re-educated. However, it turned out that the school has a gang of thieves whose leader is the director. It was during this period that Jason Todd’s stories are referred to as Robin, but he becomes the full owner of this name only after a six-month training session.

Batman believed that if you correctly motivate a guy, then he will not become a criminal. In one of the comics, Jason Todd confirms the correctness of this approach and helps his teacher save the city from the Deacon.

Todd and the Joker

The uniqueness of the story of the adventures of these heroes is the common "DiSi universe." One of the stars of the general “cosmos” is Jason Todd, the characters he met on the pages of subsequent issues are easily recognizable by fans, and managed to acquire their own adaptations. For example, Catwoman.

There is also a villain in the history of Robin, who is not inferior to Batman himself, but as is known from the comics, the main antagonist of the “winged” hero is the Joker.

Unable to cope with excessive aggression, Batman's companion was forced to abandon the fight against crime in order to clarify the secret of his birth, although in fact Wayne simply removed him. Robin finds the main and fatal secret for him, revealing which, he understands that the deceased mother was the adoptive. From his father’s records, Todd finds out about the existence of his mother, but does not find any mention of her location. Batman’s computer helps Jason find the addresses, although there are suspicions in reading the comics that the Joker specifically directed the seeker of “family truth” into a skillfully placed “joker” trap.

As a result, the offender kills both Robin and his mother. The scene of Batman’s farewell to Robin is, if not the most memorable moment in the comic, then, undoubtedly, a wonderful ending for the common history of two defenders of the same city.

Game version of the character

In the second half of 2015, players who bought a computer project called "Batman: Arkham Knight" could appreciate the new addition, where the character could be the Red Hood. Curiously, this is Todd's first appearance in the gaming industry. After all, if you follow the modern history of Jason, then after the resurrection to date, he changed his name from Robin to Hood (in some variations of Kolpak).

Adding to the storyline is a great way to test yourself as a character who was on one side with Batman in one of the comic book episodes.

The plot is short and takes about an hour, but enough time to jump, shoot and fight with members of the Black Mask gang.

A game where there is Jason Todd, whose photo flaunts on the main menu of additional stories - this is a gift from the developers you can not miss.

All the events that take place in a computer game, borrowed by the company "Rockstead" from the comics "DiSi". Arkham Knight is a completely new character who was coined by the company described above and Jeff Jones, the man who created several comic books about Batman. The new game antagonist is presented as Batman’s double armed, and the logo on the chest in the shape of the letter “A” speaks of his connection with the clinic, where, as you know, many characters from the comics of “DC” have visited.

And what about the adaptations?

In 1997, a movie was released that told about the adventures of two characters - Robin and Batman. The motion picture is the last part of the trilogy directed by Schumacher (meaning Joel). The superhero duo was performed by two actors: George Clooney and Chris O'Donnell.

Of course, the image of Batman in The Birth of a Legend is better if you compare the final parts of the trilogy, but Robin no longer appeared on the screen in the status of both a hero and an antihero.

Antihero? No, it's just that life

An antihero is not the nicest title that Jason fans have endowed. True, the reason for his bitterness lies in trying to find a member of his family, which is a serious justification for all his dark affairs. Ultimately, the Red Hood, Robin, and Jason died at the hands of the Joker. Perhaps excuses are what makes Todd more a positive character than a villain.
