The drug "Berotek" (aerosol) is a bronchodilator. The active ingredient is phenoterol hydrobromide. The active substance has a relaxing effect on the smooth muscles of the bronchi, prevents the development of bronchospastic reactions associated with the influence of methacholine, histamine, allergens, cold air (immediate sensitivity reactions).

The effect on the functioning of the heart (including an increase in the strength and heart rate) of phenoterol, which is part of the Berotek preparation, is explained by the instructions for use as the component can affect the blood vessels, stimulate beta2- (and, when used in high doses of beta1-), cardiac adrenoreceptors . The most common side effect in such situations is tremor.

The drug is prescribed for the prevention of bronchial asthma of physical effort. The Berotek inhalation product is indicated for the prevention and relief of bronchospasm against the background of the aforementioned disease, as well as emphysema, obstructive bronchitis.

Dosage regimen

One dose of the medicine “Berotek” recommends use for use to eliminate an attack of bronchial asthma. If necessary, after five minutes, take another dose. Subsequent use of the drug is allowed no less than three hours later.

In bronchial asthma and other conditions, accompanied by a narrowing of the respiratory tract of a reversible nature, one or two doses of the drug are recommended for one inhalation (one dose) to prevent bronchospasm. The number of doses should not exceed eight doses per day.

After a long break or before first use, shake the vial with the drug, and then press the valve twice.

When using Berotek aerosol, the following recommendations should be observed:

  1. Remove the cap.
  2. Exhale (slowly, deeply).
  3. Point the bottom of the bottle up. Lips grasp the tip.
  4. Inhaling as deeply as possible, quickly press a finger on the bottom of the bottle until one dose is released.
  5. Holding your breath for several seconds, remove the tip from your mouth. Exhale slowly.
  6. Repeat steps to release a second dose.
  7. Put on the cap.

The bottle "Berotek" is designed for two hundred inhalations. After that, the cylinder is replaced with a new one.

After use, the tip must be cleaned. Gentle washing in warm water is allowed.

When using the drug “Berotek”, nervousness, headache, dizziness (especially in predisposed patients), minor tremor, and mental disorders are possible.

In patients with risk factors, tachycardia or a feeling of palpitations is likely. In rare cases (when using higher dosages), a decrease in diastolic and an increase in systolic pressure, arrhythmia is likely.

In clinical practice, there have also been cases of severe hypokalemia, an increase in blood glucose concentration. Some patients experienced coughing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, local irritation, vomiting, urticaria, cramps, muscle pain, weakness, increased sweating.

The drug "Berotek" is contraindicated in aortic stenosis, heart defects, tachyarrhythmias, diabetes mellitus (decompensated), hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, glaucoma, thyrotoxicosis, hypersensitivity.

No medication is prescribed in the first trimester of the antenatal period, with threatening abortion. In the remaining trimesters and during lactation, the drug “Berotek” is used on the recommendation and under the supervision of a doctor.

It is not recommended to use the drug in patients with ERW syndrome (congenital malformations of the heart structure) due to the risk of developing tachycardia attacks.
