Shakarob salad: simple execution

Today the trend is national cuisine. And most of the dishes presented in the cookbooks of different countries and peoples are quite authentic and quite difficult to prepare. But not this salad. "Shakarob" is very simple to implement, and to implement your plan you will need only a few ingredients. You can buy them at almost any store today. So let's get started!

tomatoes, onions, basil

Uzbek salad "Shakarob"

This is not too intricate dish of the components available to all, usually served in pilaf in Uzbekistan. In many cases, this is a constant component of the meal, along with fragrant tea. And it should be noted that such an addition to the menu of the East is quite justified from a medical point of view. The thing is that pilaf is very fatty, calorie-rich food. And Shakarob salad is called upon to help our stomach cope with it with as little damage to health as possible. A simple dish suits both kebabs and fatty soups like shurpa. And the very name of the salad - “Shakarob” - in translation means “sweet water”. It’s reasonable, because tomato juice, which stands out in a bowl of chopped vegetables, has a sweetish taste.

Ingredients

To prepare a delicious and simple Shakarob salad, we need the following ingredients. Of course, tomatoes - you need to take very ripe, fleshy, in no case not greenish - in the amount of 1 kilogram. Still: a couple of large onions, a bunch of basil (purple, preferably), salt / pepper according to individual preferences.

Shakarob salad: recipe

Everything is prepared very simply: not even a very experienced home cook can handle it.

  1. We rinse the tomatoes, along with herbs under running cool water. By the way, if you don’t have fresh basil at hand, you can also use dried basil.
  2. We clean the onion, wash it, dry it with a kitchen towel or paper towel and cut it into very thin rings (for this procedure we need a thin and well-pointed knife for vegetables).
  3. We put the prepared "onion" rings in a bowl and fill with cool water, slightly pre-salting it - this procedure will take away excess bitterness from the onion. Let it stand for a bit, then water must be drained. At the same time, onions acquire additional softness.
  4. Tomatoes are cut into thin half rings with the help of the same knife (you can even use quarters of the ring if they come across especially large sizes).
  5. We pluck leaves from a bunch of basil and finely chop them with an ax for greens.
  6. In a large container, chopped tomatoes, onion rings, salt, pepper and mix gently. We try the resulting dish. If necessary, add and dash it.
  7. Put the salad in a deep serving dish and sprinkle with chopped basil (well, or dried). Greens will give additional aroma and taste to this simple folk dish.

How to serve

Serving a complementary dish should be to the freshly prepared Uzbek pilaf. And it is tasty and healthy. Fat pilaf is digested faster, and "Shakarob" perfectly sets off the taste of rice with meat and spices. Eat for health, and after the meal you need to serve, according to tradition, tea - green or black.

Some features

As for the knife, we have already said: we need thin and sharp, not too large sizes. Regarding onions: it is better to take its egg-shaped, for example shallots. Thus, the ingredient will look aesthetically pleasing in a bowl. But if the bulbs are huge, cut them into half rings. Tomatoes also need to be able to choose for this salad. In season, take a round, slightly flattened, pinkish color. And certainly ground - they are tastier than greenhouse vegetables.

Achik Chuchuk

Achik Chuchuk

And finally - another variation of this simple salad. Achik Chuchuk differs from Shakarob in that it also includes cucumbers and hot chili peppers. And instead of basil, you can (and even need) to use a bunch of fresh cilantro. Otherwise, the method of making salad is not much different from "Shakaroba." We also cut onions and tomatoes (plus - cucumbers in thin circles), use pepper and salt, add all this with chopped cilantro. We take the grains from a sharp pod, chop finely and place in the total mass. Stir and voila: the salad is ready to eat. Enjoy your appetite!
