The kind of literature. From lyrics to epic

The works that make up the cultural baggage of mankind are very diverse in content, form of presentation, composition. Each author chooses his own expressive means and puts his own unique personality into the work. However, the whole variety of works of small and large genres is divided into only three literary genres - lyrics, drama and epic. Each kind of literature unites a group of genres that are similar in structure. Works belonging to different genders differ in the way they describe heroes and the world in which they exist. So, the main sign of epic works can be called objectivity. The lyrical work has a subjective coloring, and the drama describes the actions and actions of a person.

And now we will describe each gender in more detail, starting with the lyrics and ending with the epic.

Lyrics. Kind of literature
Lyrics, a kind of literature that inherits the name of a musical instrument. The origin of both this genus and the other two began in ancient Greece. Ancient Greek poets performed their works to the melodic sounds of the lyre. Accordingly, the genre was called lyrics. As a rule, lyrical works do not contain complete characters or historical paintings. The lyrics describe the feelings that the hero experiences at different points in his life. This kind of literature is not based on the plot, but on impressions, feelings, feelings and associations. Many lyric works lack a plot, and descriptions of any events or landscapes serve the author as expressive means.
The kind of literature.

The drama is completely opposite to the lyrics, since all dramatic works are built solely on action. Narrative and narrative means are practically not used in dramas. The text of the works included in the dramatic kind of literature mainly consists of dialogues and monologues, and occasionally the author’s speech has an auxiliary function and is not included in the plot. As a rule, the author’s speech consists of a list of heroes, a brief description of their appearance, character, mood and environment. The plots of most dramas are built on the struggle or confrontation of heroes, but in some works the leading role is played not by actions, but by the thoughts of the heroes, expressed in the form of monologues.

Epos. Kind of literature
Epic, a kind of literature that combines drama and lyrics. In Greek, its name means "story", which fully describes the essence of the epic. Epic works describe past events centered around one lily of several heroes. As in the drama, the epic plot is based on events and actions, but in the epic works there are also elements of lyrics, such as descriptions of nature or the hero’s experiences. As a rule, an epic work is not limited to time or space. The events of some particularly large novels, called epics, span decades and centuries and take place in several countries or on different continents.

The kind of literature is a partly artificial unit. The works often combine lyrics, and epics, and drama. For example, a prose poem is a combination of lyrics and drama. There are also such “hybrid” types as epic or lyrical drama. Thanks to such combinations, world literature is being improved, replenished with original and original works.
