How are American pancakes different from traditional Russian?

It is not surprising that when using almost the same ingredients for both Russian and American pancakes, the result is significantly different. And how can one explain the fact when dishes prepared according to one recipe have different taste qualities? What can I say - one housewife cooks the same notorious borscht, using similar products, each time in a different way. Therefore, American pancakes, prepared at first glance as well as ours, differ in taste and appearance from those that are familiar to us. So what is the difference?

The traditional recipe. American pancakes

  • Flour - 150 g
  • Powdered sugar - 2 tbsp. spoons
  • Milk - 130 ml
  • Butter (melted) or olive - 2 tbsp. spoons
  • Baking powder for dough - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 0.5 tsp
  • Egg - 1 pc.

American pancakes - an ideal meal for breakfast. Their distinguishing feature from pancakes familiar to us is the addition of berries (usually blueberries). For all their tenderness and lightness, however, they turn out to be more dense and downed than the Russians.

Cooking:

Powdered sugar, salt and baking powder are added to the sifted flour. Melted butter is added to a slightly beaten egg with milk, the resulting mixture is poured into flour and thoroughly stirred with a fork until smooth and soft. Even if lumps remain, they will quickly dissolve. Then the dough is set aside for several minutes.

Meanwhile, heat the pan and melt the butter. As usual, the ladle is poured onto a preheated pan with a ladle. It is worth noting that American pancakes will be thicker than usual for us, but it should be so. Pancakes are turned on the other side after the appearance of bubbles on their surface and baked, alternately turning on both sides, until they turn golden.

American pancakes are served with butter or maple syrup.

In addition - which is especially unusual for us - fried bacon is served for pancakes watered with maple syrup . What seemed unacceptable actually turns out to be very tasty! The combination of American pancakes with maple syrup and brackish crispy bacon has a rather refined taste.

American pancakes or the so-called pancakes have a denser consistency that does not spoil them at all, but rather makes it a rather original dish that is successfully served with honey, butter, maple syrup, sour cream or bacon. This is American food. American-style pancakes will be a good idea for a Sunday late family breakfast, as is customary in the United States.
