Venotonics and angioprotectors are a category of substances that make it possible to strengthen and restore the walls of blood vessels. To such pharmacological substances belong, according to the instructions for use, Troxevasin tablets, the price of which is 650 rubles. The medication has been known for a long time and is widely used in diseases of the legs, in particular varicose veins, angiopathies, venous spasms and in the pathology of blood circulation as a result of injuries. "Troxevasin" can help improve blood flow in places of trophic tissue damage due to impaired venous blood flow. This drug is used by many patients, as it is highly effective in the treatment of many pathologies.
Structure
One tablet contains 300 mg of an active substance called troxerutin. He performs the main function of the drug. Excipients are as follows: lactose monohydrate, magnesium, gelatin, E104, E110, E171.
Pharmacodynamics
"Troxevasin" - a complex of bioflavonoids, including at least 95% troxerutin. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, inhibits hyaluronidase, and prevents oxidation. Troxerutin reduces the high permeability and fragility of capillaries, prevents the violation of the basal membrane of endothelial cells, and, in addition, it also has antioxidant, membrane-stabilizing, anti-hemorrhagic, anti-inflammatory, venotonic effects. The drug reduces swelling, improves trophism, microcirculation, microvascular perfusion and other signs associated with venous insufficiency or impaired outflow of lymphoid fluid.
Pharmacokinetics
The instruction of the Troxevasin tablets indicates that Cmax in blood plasma is established between 1–9 hours after taking the medicine. Reduction of accumulation in blood plasma is bio-exponential. Compound with blood plasma proteins within 27–29%, accumulates in the maximum fractions in endothelial matter. It does not pass through the BBB, seeps through the placental barrier in a small amount, and passes into breast milk in a small concentration. It is metabolized through glucuronidation in the liver. It is mainly excreted from the body with bile, in an insignificant amount - with urine.
Who is assigned to?
Instructions for the use of troxevasin tablets and reviews suggest that the drug is prescribed to people with a history of and directly suffering from the following diseases:
- varicose veins and everything related to it;
- phlebitis, thrombophlebitis and postphlebitis state;
- chronic venous insufficiency;
- hemorrhoids;
- in combination with other drugs to cure diabetic retinopathy;
- with dislocations, sprains, concussions.
Application
"Troxevasin" is mainly used in EU countries. In our country, in the pharmacy network, capsules of a pharmaceutical preparation are more presented. There is no particular difference in pharmaceutical forms. For this reason, the instructions for use are similar for capsules and tablets: ingestion on an empty stomach with the required amount of water. During the period of administration, it is forbidden to drink other pharmaceuticals half an hour before and within an hour after. Duration of substance intake is long, with systematic repetition of courses. As a rule, therapy is practiced for 40 days in the spring and in the fall. This makes it possible to completely stop the progression of venous insufficiency. Also, with prolonged use, damaged vascular valves can be partially resumed.
Side effects
During therapy with the drug, adverse reactions rarely occur.
Immune system: dermatological allergic reactions - rash, irritation, urticaria; very rarely - anaphylactic shock, anaphylactoid reactions, hypersensitivity reactions.
Nervous: quite rarely - dizziness, headache and sleep pathology.
Vascular pathologies: very rarely - ecchymosis.
Digestive system: stomach discomfort, dyspepsia, vomiting, nausea, bloating, and diarrhea are extremely rare.
Common pathologies: quite rarely - high asthenicity.
Due to the presence of a dye (E110), substance therapy can provoke an allergic reaction, including AD.
Consequences and contraindications
There are no definite contraindications to the use of the drug. With caution, it is recommended to use the substance in the first trimester of pregnancy and for those who have ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract (UBI, UBDPK, ulcerative nonspecific colitis, peptic ulcer of the digestive tract).
Secondary symptoms are headaches, dizziness, and tinnitus. Without exception, this is considered the direct result of the effect of the pharmaceutical agent on the vascular bed: cerebral blood flow improves, and blood vessel saturation in the blood changes accordingly. In exceptional cases, urticaria occurs, which tends to go into the form of allergic dermatitis. In this case, drug withdrawal is indicated.
special instructions
The remedy will not be effective for leg swelling caused by diseases of the liver, kidneys, or cardiovascular system. The drug is prescribed with caution to patients with serious diseases of the liver and gall bladder.
Since the drug is able to irritate the gastric mucosa, it must be used during meals. The drug contains lactose, for this reason it should not be used in patients with rare hereditary diseases, such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. The risk of allergies is greater in patients with high sensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid.
Pregnancy. There is no information on the negative effects on pregnant women and breastfeeding girls, but despite this, its use in the first trimester of pregnancy is not recommended.
Lactation. The drug passes into breast milk in small doses, but there is no information that they caused clinically important reactions in newborns. The decision on the possibility of using the substance of this group by women is made by the doctor.
Troxevasin has little effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery.
Interaction with other drugs
When taken simultaneously with other substances, this drug is capable of changing both its effect and the effect of other substances on the body. This should be taken into account if Troxevasin is not the only pharmaceutical substance that is used.
In case of need, you need to immediately adjust the course of treatment or choose the most effective, as well as extremely harmless analogues and alternative medicines. However, Troxevasin very rarely interacts with any substances. It was found that the result of strengthening the vascular wall increases if taken together with ascorbic acid.
But this does not mean at all that all kinds of medicines can be freely taken with this substance. It is better to consult a doctor so that the course of treatment is extremely effective and poses virtually no health hazard.
