The science fiction series "Babylon 5", filmed in the genre of space opera, became a real television hit of the nineties. Not the last role in this was played by actress Claudia Christian, who embodied the image of the harsh but charming officer Susan Ivanova. Claudia began her career back in the distant seventies of the last century, but the audience was still remembered for her role in the cult series about the intergalactic station.

Claudia Christian was born in Glendale in 1965. Bright, beautiful girl, from childhood she loved the stage and took part in all school theater productions. Gradually, Claudia’s childhood hobby became her way to earn a living. Already at the age of thirteen, she appeared on television screens throughout the country, showing up in the series Dallas, which was for the Americans a kind of "Santa Barbara" of the seventies.

First roles
The filmography of Claudia Christian has a lot of work, but a wide circle of viewers know not so many paintings with her participation. For a long time, the Longdale native was perceived as a spectacular and seductive woman, but not a particularly bright actress. In this capacity, she was doomed to participate in numerous second-class Class B films, most of which were forgotten immediately after the release of the screens.
Nevertheless, there was no shortage of proposals from the directors, and Claudia has been actively filming since 1985, when she took part in the filming of The Burgers, which became for her a kind of pass to the world of Hollywood.
Of the subsequent films of Claudia Christian of that period, not so much was left in my memory. You can recall the role of the nameless victim in the film "The Hidden Enemy", which was released in 1987. In 1990, she embodied the image of a psychologist-policeman in a film with the telling name "Maniac-policeman 2". Three years later, the directors finally figured out to make full use of Claudia’s outstanding physical data, offering her the role of the model in the movie “Bewitched”. Each actor, lost in the total mass of participants in the passing films for one weekend, wants to get the very role that will instantly take him to the treasured red carpet, make him talk about himself in every family. This is exactly the chance Claudia Christian got in 1994, when she was offered to star in the new series “Babylon 5”.
At first glance, it was a banal space opera, but the quality work of all participants in the filming process turned Babylon-5 into a real sensation.
The plot was based on the relationship of representatives of various intelligent races inhabiting the Universe. Babylon 5 itself has become the image of a kind of negotiation platform between humanoids, reptiles, arachnoids and other carriers of the galactic mind.
Claudia Christian got the role of the brave officer Susan Ivanova, which she embodied with her inherent brilliance. The Slavic name of the character, apparently, is explained by the firm conviction of American directors that all the girls from Eastern Europe look as luxurious as Claudia.
Return to Earth
"Babylon 5" was a very successful television project, had consistently high ratings. The series won an army of fans who came up with their own storylines, pasted the walls of their rooms with posters depicting their favorite heroes, and deeply inside themselves dreamed of meeting with Susan Ivanova somewhere on a remote two-seater space shuttle.
What was even more surprising was that at the end of the fourth season, Claudia Christian, one of the central actresses of the project, unexpectedly left Babylon 5 without agreeing on working conditions in the fifth season. Who knows what was the reason for this, perhaps the really talented actress was simply tired of playing the same template role in the sick-drawn project for four years in a row.
Nevertheless, fans of Claudia Christian were able to see her in one of the episodes of the fifth season. This is due to the fact that initially this episode was intended to be shown in the fourth season.
Last works
After participating in Babylon 5, Claudia departs from active acting. In 1999, she starred in the movie "Replacement 3", after which a rather long break in her career ensued. The next time she pleases the audience with her appearance on the screens in 2002, starring in the film "Neither Dead nor Alive."
In 2004, the actress decided to resume work as a dramatic actress and returned to the theater in Laguna Beach, where she began once. Here she was noted for participation in the play directed by Mike Weller What the Night Is For. Recently, Claudia occasionally starred in TV series, among which one can distinguish “Think like a criminal” and the famous “Mentalist”.
