Great happiness brings parents the birth of the desired baby! But, unfortunately, many couples are faced with a bunch of obstacles and problems along the way - to conceive a baby is easy, but taking it out and maintaining health is much more difficult. Often, pregnant women for completely different reasons, situations arise that threaten premature delivery or miscarriage. And then, to prevent the sad consequences, gynecologists prescribe the drug "Ginipral" during pregnancy.
Instructions for the drug
This drug has a tocolytic effect, as a result of which the muscles of the uterus relax. The intensity and frequency of contractions are reduced or completely stopped.
Selectively acting on the beta-2 adrenergic receptors of the myometrium, the medicine “Ginipral” practically has no effect on the fetus. Heart and blood flow in mother and baby remain at normal levels.
How is the drug used? In the form of a solution, it is used during long and acute tocolysis, in other words, when there is an urgent need to quickly stop the onset of the birth process. Further, the drug "Ginipral" during pregnancy is prescribed by a specialist in the form of tablets, already as maintenance therapy. It is often practiced to prescribe a drug for prevention, if there are no obvious symptoms of the threat of premature birth or miscarriage - local (incomplete) uterine tone.
The drug "Ginipral", not affecting the fetus, is used as follows
In the form of acute tocolysis (solution):
- to quickly suppress contractions during childbirth, if the baby is at risk of fetal asphyxiation;
- when the umbilical cord falls out, since in this case there is a threat of intrauterine asphyxia of the baby;
- before preparing for manual rotation of the fetus, if it is incorrectly located (transverse presentation or pelvic);
- to weaken labor in the form of preparation for cesarean section;
- in an emergency: to inhibit the birth process, if necessary, prompt delivery of the pregnant woman to the hospital.
In the form of massive tocolysis:
- to suppress the onset of premature birth, if the cervix is already smoothed or its pharynx is opened.
In the form of prolonged tocolysis:
- to suppress preterm labor, if contractions begin, but there is no smoothness (shortening) of the cervix, and (or) its pharynx is closed.
Ginipral tablets, which do not have a negative effect on the fetus, are used for maintenance therapy after infusion, focused on the suspension of preterm birth, as well as with the threat of premature birth.
Like many medicines, Ginipral has several contraindications during pregnancy:
- hyperthyroidism;
- various diseases of blood vessels and heart: heart defects, myocarditis, aortic stenosis , etc .;
- severe kidney and liver diseases;
- early detachment of the placenta ;
- uterine bleeding;
- in the presence of breastfeeding of the oldest child;
- angle-closure glaucoma (increased intraocular pressure) ;
- intrauterine infection;
- strong sensitivity to the drug and its components.
Like many other drugs, Ginipral can provoke various side effects: dizziness, headaches, tachycardia, increased sweating, pain in the sternum , constipation, nausea, vomiting, decreased urine output, increased blood sugar, allergic reactions .
It should be understood that the drug "Ginipral", the effect on the fetus of which is not established in a negative way, should be prescribed only by a qualified specialist, and this article is given for general familiarization with the drug. Only the doctor will correctly prescribe the necessary dosage of the drug and determine the duration of treatment.
