For the first time, meat in French was prepared for the celebration of Prince Orlov Gregory in Paris. But then he was offered a dish of veal, potatoes, onions and mushrooms, baked in an oven with bechamel sauce. Now this dish has changed a little, and our compatriots know it as chicken in French, in a slow cooker which is prepared much easier, and the taste is simply fantastic.
Ingredients
There are many variations of cooking chicken based on the traditional recipe for this dish. But to create a classic French chicken in a slow cooker you will need:
- whole chicken breast;
- four potato tubers;
- two large onions;
- five cloves of garlic;
- a couple of tomatoes;
- 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar;
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil;
- 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise;
- 150 grams of hard cheese;
- salt, pepper to taste.
Component Preparation
According to the traditional French chicken recipe in a slow cooker, the first thing you need to do is remove the chicken breast from the films and fat, wash it under cold water and put it to dry. Next, peel and wash the vegetables, after which you can start slicing. We cut the chicken into thin plates, potato slices, onions in half rings, and tomatoes in slices or half circles, depending on their size. Next, pour the onions with apple cider vinegar and set aside so that it is pickled. Finally, it remains to grate the cheese on a coarse grater and let the garlic pass through the garlic press. After that, it remains only to drain the marinade from the onion. The ingredients will be ready to bookmark.
Cooking French Chicken in the Redmond Slow Cooker
After we have prepared all the components, take a slow cooker and grease its bottom and walls with vegetable oil. Then we spread the first layer of potatoes, mixed with onions and sprinkled with salt and pepper, and on top we coat it with mayonnaise. Next comes a layer of chicken and tomatoes, which is covered with mayonnaise and sprinkled with garlic. And finally, according to the final French chicken photo in the slow cooker, the top layer of our dish will be grated cheese. After that, cover, select the βBakingβ or βFryingβ mode, depending on preferences, and set the timer in the first case for 40 minutes, and in the second for half an hour. The finished dish can be laid out on plates and invite guests to the table.
Meat with vegetables
If the usual classic way of cooking chicken in French in a slow cooker does not suit you, you can use another recipe that involves the use of vegetables. In this case, we need:
- 700 grams of chicken fillet;
- two potato tubers;
- a couple of tomatoes;
- eggplant;
- bulb;
- medium-sized carrot;
- four cloves of garlic;
- greens;
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil;
- 150 grams of hard cheese;

First, prepare the ingredients. Peel the chicken and grease and cut into slices. Cut all vegetables: potatoes, tomatoes, carrots and eggplant - in circles, onions - in half rings. Grind the garlic with a garlic squeezer, and three cheese on a medium grater.
Next, lay the chicken in a slow cooker and cook it in the "Frying" mode for 10 minutes. After that, add all other ingredients to the bowl, spreading them in layers, sprinkle with grated cheese on top. After that, close the lid of the multicooker, select the "Baking" mode and bake the dish for 20 minutes.
While the meat with vegetables is cooked, chop the greens, which we sprinkle it after putting it on a plate.
French-style meat in a slow cooker with chicken and mushrooms
If you want something special for the holiday, it is best to cook this dish with mushrooms. In this case, we need:
- 600 grams of chicken fillet;
- 500 grams of mushrooms (champignons are best);
- two onions;
- a pair of medium-sized tomatoes;
- 150 grams of hard cheese;
- 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise;
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil;
- salt and pepper to taste;

The meat with mushrooms is prepared in the same way as the traditional French chicken recipe in a slow cooker. First, you need to clean the chicken from grease and films, rinse under running water and put on a paper towel to remove excess fluid.
Then wash the mushrooms and finely chop them. We lay them in a slow cooker, add half the vegetable oil and set the "Frying" mode for 5 minutes. While the mushrooms are fried, peel the onions, and then cut the chicken into slices, and the onions and tomatoes in rings, three cheese on a coarse grater.
Then we take out the mushrooms from the slow cooker, grease it with the remaining vegetable oil, put the chicken on the bottom and grease it with mayonnaise. We spread the mushrooms with the next layer on the meat, then onions, tomatoes, and grated cheese on top. Select the "Baking" mode and bake the meat for 40 minutes. Before serving, decorate the dish with finely chopped greens.
Mistress note
In order for the finished chicken in French in the multicooker to turn out just the way it should, you should remember some culinary tricks.

- If you want to cook this dish as you did in France, then instead of mayonnaise you should grease its layers with bechamel sauce, and replace ordinary hard cheese with parmesan.
- To give the dish a special flavor, before adding onions to the slow cooker, it should be marinated in a mixture of a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, the same amount of water, a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of sugar.
- To make the dish as juicy as possible, pieces of chicken need to be tightly folded to each other, and also not to spare the onion, which can be taken even more than indicated in the recipe.
- If potatoes are indicated in the recipe, then in addition to pepper and salt, spices such as marjoram, nutmeg and paprika can be added to it.
- Potatoes should be cut into thin slices so that it is well baked, and the dish is cooked faster.
- When choosing meat, pay attention to its freshness. It is best to take not the usual chicken fillet, but the breast, as it is considered less calorie.
- If you want to cook a diet chicken in French, then mayonnaise can be replaced with sour cream or low-fat yogurt, not add potatoes to the dish and use only one tablespoon of grated cheese.
Each mistress has her own recipes. Each can cook in its own way. For example, instead of hard cheese, use feta cheese to make the dish less caloric. Instead of chicken, use veal, and exclude potatoes altogether. In a word, there are many options.
