At the moment, the production of Hemodez in Russia is prohibited. It can not be used in clinical practice. Although from the second half of the last century and up to 2005, the Hemodez drug was prescribed as the main plasma substitute. Indications for its use were quite wide. And since the drug was considered almost harmless for a long time, its analogues were not considered at all. How could a situation arise in which the drug was used for a very long time, and its toxic properties were not noticed?
First, the principle of drug safety research at that time was different from modern standards. Secondly, most side effects were considered a feature of the course of the disease, and were also considered as reactions to the introduction of other drugs. After all, there were practically no situations in which only the Hemodez remedy would be prescribed in isolation. Reviews of pediatricians were the first to indicate adverse reactions caused by this medicine. The most characteristic manifestation was a decrease in blood pressure and a feeling of lack of air. The severity of symptoms depended on the speed of administration of the drug. However, it is very difficult to recognize the harm of a medicine that has been used for too long. Its effectiveness was confirmed by reviews of many patients. So, in neighboring Belarus we produce it and appoint it still.
In Russia, you can still hear about the appointment of the drug "Hemodez." Indications for use actually relate to its new counterpart - the tool "Hemodez-N". This medicine is distinguished by its molecular weight. It is almost two times less than in the old drug. It was the higher molecular weight that allowed for a quick detoxification effect, but it also caused severe adverse reactions. The new formula enables the kidneys to very quickly remove the drug from the body (almost eighty percent in four hours), while its therapeutic effect is not reduced. According to the old tradition, it is called "Hemodez", however, it implies a new drug, and its purpose is not a concern.
Means "Hemodez-N" is a 6% solution of low molecular weight polyvinylpyrrolidone, which contains ions of potassium, chlorine, sodium and calcium. It is available in packs of 100 ml, 200 ml and, finally, 400 ml.
In any situations when it is necessary to free the body from toxic substances, the drug “Hemodez” is prescribed. Indications for its use are not limited to intoxications of various etiologies, for example, its use after myocardial infarction is due to the property of the drug to reduce the concentration of substances such as free fatty acids. The detoxification mechanism of Hemodez is provided by polyvinylpyrrolidone, which binds toxins that circulate in the blood.
