The slow cooker has become popular due to its functionality and convenience. But ... now about cooking rice porridge with milk with raisins and about the nuances that await the hostess during the process.
Preliminary preparation of ingredients and their selection
The final taste and appearance of the porridge depends on the correctly selected components of the dish and their preliminary correct preparation.
One of the most important elements, of course, will be rice. The recipe for rice porridge in milk with raisins or other additives suggests that we choose round rice (white, polished). This grits boil faster. We take out the inedible specks and broken (blackened) grains from the total mass of cereals so that annoying troubles do not spoil the pleasure of eating porridge.
Be sure to subject the rice grains to repeated washing with cold water. Thanks to this technique, not only dust and various suspensions will be removed, but also gluten with excess starch. The dish will turn out more crumbly.
Milk for cooking
Naturally, we give preference to the freshest milk, if we want to get a delicious and beautiful porridge. Check the release date and shelf life of the product. No risk! In the case of homemade milk, unpleasant surprises are possible. If you took the product and poured it into the container on which there was at least the slightest “memory” of the acidified product stored in this container until fresh milk, then this milk can very quickly begin the process of souring. Just add a small pinch to the milk container and it will last longer.
Rice Porridge Supplement
Supplementary ingredients, such as nuts, raisins, berries, or fruits, must be of good quality. They should not be discernible from traces of any deterioration or mold. Take ripe and peeled products.
Before applying, raisins are very carefully washed in warm water. Then soak (also in warm) for at least thirty minutes. Prepared in this way, it is added to almost finished porridge.
Sugar, butter or honey we take only of good quality.
Classic recipe
Now, after we have learned all the tricks that need to be taken into account during the cooking process, let's proceed to the process itself. To cook rice porridge with milk according to the standard recipe (photos of the finished dish are presented in the article), we follow the recommendations.
Make sure that you have all the necessary ingredients:
- 1 glass of rice (polished, round);
- half a glass of clean cold water;
- two and a half glasses of fresh milk;
- raisins (seedless) - a third of a glass;
- butter - 20 grams;
- salt - a pinch;
- sugar - one and a half tablespoons.
How to cook
To cook rice porridge with milk in a saucepan, take aluminum dishes or one in which the dish does not burn. A pan with an enameled surface is absolutely not suitable. In such dishes, porridge will burn to the bottom and ruin everything: from the mood to the dishes.
Rinse the rice until the water becomes clear.
First, pour water into the pan (half a glass). Then add milk and bring the liquid to a boil. When the milk begins to boil, reduce the temperature of the plate to a minimum, salt our future porridge and add the entire sugar rate mentioned in the recipe.
Pour the prepared rice, mix it with liquid ingredients and cover the pan (loosely), cook porridge for 30-40 minutes, stirring regularly.
At this time, we prepare raisins, washing it and soaking for half an hour in warm water.
After the specified time (for cooking rice), the porridge will evaporate, and the liquid, almost all, will be absorbed into the grains. At this point, add the butter to the pan, let it melt and mix it and pour the whole raisins.
Turn off the stove. Cover the finished porridge with a lid. Some housewives, wanting to get a more magnificent dish, put a clean towel several times folded on the lid or put a pan under a heating pad. Fifteen minutes later, remove the towel, open the pan and mix the steamed raisins with the bulk of the porridge. The dish is ready. You can start tasting.
Porridge in a slow cooker
To get rice porridge in milk, as in the photo, use a slow cooker. The design features of the apparatus allow you to feast on a dish similar to what our old grannies cooked for a long time in cast-iron in a Russian stove.
In order to avoid unpleasant surprises, we will check the availability of all the ingredients listed below that are necessary for making sweet cereal. At the same time, check their quantity (mass).
Products that are useful to us:
- rice (as in the previous case, it is better if the cereal is round and polished) - 1 cup;
- fresh milk - 4 glasses;
- raisins - 100 grams:
- butter - 50-60 grams;
- salt - a quarter of a teaspoon;
- vanillin, or vanilla sugar - to taste;
- sugar - to taste (on average, 2-3 tablespoons).
Cooking technology
Rice cereal rinse, discard in a colander. Pour rice into the bottom of the multicooker bowl.
Put a piece of butter on the washed cereal and pour the prepared products with the whole norm of milk.
Add all the salt to the milk and add the required amount of granulated sugar.
We install in our place (above) a special bowl for cooking products for a couple. Such a bowl (or lattice-bowl) is included with each multicooker. Such a technique helps to keep milk in the bowels of the kitchen assistant. It’s no secret that milk is a very “runaway” product. However, it all depends on the power of your multicooker and still milk has a lot of chances to escape. If you are afraid that you will have to wash the kitchen surfaces and ventilate the room, do not cover the cooking dish with a lid during cooking. In this case, you can always check the condition of the cooking porridge and stop it or turn off the device.
We set the program “Stewing” or “Milk porridge” - depending on which of the modes your assistant has. Usually the time for this program is no more than 35 minutes. During the cooking process, it will be better if you mix the cooked porridge several times.
Let's prepare the raisins. It is better if this dried fruit is pitted inside. Wash it thoroughly in several waters, removing all dirt and sand. Pour pure raisins with warm water. Leave it in this form for about half an hour (just about as much as the porridge is cooked).
After the signal that the dish is ready, gently open the device and pour all the washed raisins into the bowl. You can optionally add vanillin or vanilla sugar at this stage of the preparation. Remember that vanillin is a concentrated crystal, and it will be enough to add it to the porridge at the tip of a knife for a pleasant aroma. If there is a lot of crystalline vanillin in the dish, it may start to bitter. Here it is better to slightly add flavoring than to overdo it.
We mix the ingredients and, turning off the crock-pot, cover it with a lid for thirty minutes. After half an hour, you can call everyone to the table and enjoy tasty and healthy porridge with raisins.
If you or your household do not like raisins, add nuts or finely chopped banana, you can pour porridge with honey.
