Do you have nosebleeds? Reasons and methods of treatment.

The nose, by virtue of its anatomical structure, is a very sensitive organ in terms of bleeding. It contains a huge number of the thinnest blood vessels, mainly in its nostrils. Sometimes, due to trauma, nosebleeds may occur. The reasons can be very different, but one of the most common is your own fingers. Even if you are no longer a child and do this with a cotton swab or handkerchief, the result can be irritation of the mucous membrane, damage and bleeding from the nose. The reasons may also be a drop in temperature. Quite often, in cold frosty weather, when you blow your nose or sneeze, blood can go. Dry air greatly affects the nasal mucosa, and in women with the onset of menopause, dry nose is inevitable. In old age, the body loses moisture and dehydrates the nasal tissues more and more, so elderly people often experience nosebleeds.

The reasons can also be sought in a change in the state of the body, for example, weight loss or the manifestation of any type of allergy. Speaking directly about the nasal cavity, here the basis can be polyps, benign tumors or infections filled with fluid. During pregnancy, nosebleeds also occur. The reasons can be sought in taking various medications and increasing blood pressure. It can begin due to excessive consumption of alcohol and drugs. All of these factors can cause nosebleeds.

First aid is necessary, but in cases where the bleeding was caused by a serious injury that changes the contours of the nose and is accompanied by swelling, dizziness or loss of consciousness occurs, you should immediately seek help from a doctor. This does not happen so often, in most cases the problem is terrible only at first glance, and it is quite easy to deal with. Therefore, for starters, it is necessary to reassure the victim, because with excessive excitement, the heart beats faster, which means that blood loss increases significantly. And then bend his head forward. For some reason, there is an established opinion that severe bleeding from the nose can be stopped by throwing your head back and being in this position for as long as possible. This is absolutely wrong, since in this case the blood will be poured into the throat and esophagus and greatly complicate breathing. It is impossible to stop the flow of blood in this way!

If the bleeding is not very strong, you can simply pinch your nostrils with your fingers and keep them in this state for a while. This will allow squeezing blood vessels and stop blood flow. It is worth noting that in most cases, bleeding stops quite quickly on its own and in this way you can only accelerate this process and prevent crusts from forming. Instead of fingers, you can use the usual clothespin, which is superimposed on the nostrils and makes it possible to free your hands if first aid is provided independently.

Severe bleeding from the nose is stopped with a cotton swab with neosinephrine, naphthyzin or sanorin can be used. Such a swab helps relieve swelling and in five minutes brings relief. The ice applied on the bridge of the nose or a towel dipped in ice water helps a lot. But in case of heavy bleeding lasting more than five minutes, often recurring and accompanied by other unpleasant symptoms and diseases, you should seek medical help from a specialist. Complications are possible with diabetes, poor blood coagulation, hypertension and aspirin. Popular methods such as lemon juice, aloe, salt water and others cope very well with this problem.
