In the article, we consider the instructions for use and reviews for the Lavomax drug.
The drug is a domestic antiviral drug, which belongs to the class of immunostimulants and helps to increase the production of immune proteins - interferons.
Description
The medicine has a positive effect on the state of the bone marrow, as a result of which the level of self-production of antibodies in the patient's body rises. Means “Lavomax” is used against pathogens of acute viral and respiratory infections - herpes, flu, hepatitis and other pathological phenomena. It is prescribed both for combination therapy, and as an independent treatment, as well as for preventive purposes. The drug is not able to transform and accumulate in the body and is completely excreted.
Composition and form of release
According to the instructions for use, Lavomax is produced in tablet form. These are round, coated tablets of orange or yellow color in 10, 6, 4 or 3 pieces in contour cells, 1 or 2 pieces in a cardboard box.
The most popular dosage of Lavomax is 125 mg. Instructions for use indicate that the drug contains the main active element - tilorone dihydrochloride, and such auxiliary components as povidone, magnesium hydroxycarbonate pentahydrate (carbonic water magnesium), calcium stearate.
The composition of the shell is represented by substances such as talc, sucrose, povidone, colloidal silicon dioxide (Aerosil), copovidone, magnesium hydroxycarbonate pentahydrate, titanium dioxide, dye tropeolin, liquid paraffin (liquid paraffin), macrogol 6000, beeswax.
Pharmacological properties
In accordance with the instructions for use, Lavomax is an immunomodulating and antiviral medication that actively stimulates the formation of β-, α-, γ-interferon in the human body. In response to receiving this drug, interferon is produced by T-lymphocytes, intestinal epithelial cells, neutrophils, hepatocytes.
After oral administration of the drug, the maximum production of interferons occurs first in the intestine, then in the liver and blood (after about 4-24 hours). Lavomax medication has a pronounced immunomodulating effect and stimulates the function of stem cells in the bone marrow. Depending on the dosage, it enhances the formation of antibodies, reduces the severity of immunosuppression, stabilizes the ratio of T-suppressors / T-helpers. The instructions for use with Lavomax tablets confirm this.
The medicine is quite effective against viral infections, in particular all types of influenza viruses, hepatitis, cytomegalovirus, herpes and neurotropic viruses. The mechanism of this effect is directly related to the suppression of the translation of specific viral proteins in pathological cells, as a result of which the development and growth of viral agents is inhibited.
Indications for appointment
In accordance with the instructions for use, Lavomax, which has both interferonogenic and antiviral properties, is used in the development of infectious processes of various etiologies. It is rarely used for monotherapy of such diseases, however, there are still such cases.
As an immunomodulator with antiviral effects, this pharmacological agent is used as part of a combination treatment for the following pathologies:
- viral encephalomyelitis;
- flu, SARS;
- viral hepatitis A, C, B;
- herpetic infections of the first or second type;
- cytomegalovirus infection.
In the form of an interferon inducer, the drug Lavomax is prescribed as part of a combination treatment:
- urethritis of a non-gonococcal origin;
- chlamydial infection;
- pulmonary tuberculosis;
- allergic infectious encephalomyelitis.
Contraindications
What else does the instructions for use for Lavomax tell us? Studies of the effects of this medication during pregnancy have not been conducted, therefore, the drug is prohibited for use by pregnant women. In addition, its purpose is contraindicated in:
- deficiency of certain enzymes that break down sucrose (lactase and isomaltase);
- fructose intolerance;
- high sensitivity to tilorone or additional elements of a medical device;
- galactose-glucose malabsorption (impaired absorption of sugars).
Dosage regimen and method of use
This pharmacological agent is used orally after eating. It is required to drink water.
For the prevention of influenza and other viral respiratory infections, 1 tablet per week is prescribed for 1.5 months according to the instructions for use with Lavomax 125 mg. Six tablets are given for the therapeutic course.
In the treatment of influenza and other viral respiratory infections in the acute phase, 125 mg is prescribed in the first two days of the development of the disease, followed by 125 mg every other day. The dose per course is 750 mg.
For the treatment of hepatitis in the acute phase - on the first and second days, 125 mg of the drug is prescribed, in the subsequent - the same dosage every other day. The course doses are 2 g, with prolonged hepatitis B the dose should be 125 mg 2 times a day, then 125 mg every other day. The entire course of therapy is given 2.5 g of drug substance.
For chronic hepatitis - the first two days - 250 mg, then 125 mg, then 125 mg once every seven days. The course dosage of the drug should be from 3.5 to 5 g, lasting 3-6 months, depending on the indicators of biochemical, morphological, immunological studies, which reflect the degree of activity of the pathological process.
With respiratory and urogenital chlamydia, non-gonococcal urethritis, 125 mg is prescribed in the first two days, and subsequently every other day in the same dosage. The therapeutic course is given 10 tablets of 125 mg.
To treat the symptoms of cytomegalovirus and herpes infection, it is recommended to take 125 mg in the first two days, after which - 125 mg every other day. The dosage for the course as a whole is 20 tablets.

- "Anaferon" - a drug that is used most often for children and is effective against parainfluenza, influenza, herpes simplex viruses (genital and labial herpes), chickenpox, acute mononucleosis, enterovirus, tick-borne encephalitis, coronavirus, rotavirus, adenovirus, calicivirus .
- "Acyclovir" - an antiviral agent for external use, is active against herpes viruses.
- "Ingavirin" - a drug with a pronounced immunomodulating effect, is highly active against influenza viruses, including swine, adenovirus, parainfluenza, SARS.
- "Kagocel" - one of the substitutes for the drug "Lavomax", is produced in the form of tablets for the prevention and treatment of infectious-viral diseases.

Reviews
A very large number of reviews have been left about this medical tool - positive and negative. The positive information reflects the fact that this medication quickly helps in the treatment of a variety of viral diseases, in which symptoms such as acute pain in the larynx, runny nose, cough, etc. patients note that the medicine helps well, especially if you start it take at the very first manifestations of the disease. Otherwise, the effectiveness of the medication is less noticeable, however, the disease proceeds, as a rule, in a milder form than without its use. Patients observed that the runny nose disappeared by about the third day of treatment, and the general condition improved noticeably on the second day.
Negative reviews contain information that the effect of therapy with this medication is almost imperceptible, and patients claim that they had to use other pharmacological agents for respiratory illness. In addition, in such reviews numerous adverse reactions are described, which include, first of all, various manifestations on the skin, for example, in the form of urticaria, which was accompanied by intense itching. In addition, patients had dyspeptic disorders that, according to their observations, were not associated with other drugs, and it was Lavomax that provoked them. In this case, patients had symptoms of nausea, bloating in the abdomen, and stool disorders.
Doctors do not recommend taking this pharmacological drug without prescribing and recommending a specialist, since uncontrolled medication can lead to many undesirable consequences, especially when it comes to effects on the immune system.
