"Solpadein": instructions for use of the drug

About the drug "Solpadein" instructions for use, first of all, reports the following. The medicine belongs to the pharmacological group of non-narcotic analgesics. The drug is antipyretic and analgesic, as well as antitussive agents.

As for the indications for the use of the drug "Solpadein", the instruction for use identifies the following:

  • headaches of various etiologies,

  • migraine,

  • back pain

  • rheumatic pains

  • menstrual pain

  • neuralgia,

  • joint pain

  • toothache.

Also, the drug is recommended for colds, flu, sinusitis. It is used to reduce the effects of symptoms such as fever and chills. How to take this medication: Adult patients are prescribed oral administration. The interval between taking the medicine is four hours. Two capsules (tablets) are taken from one to four times a day.

The maximum daily dose is eight capsules (tablets) - for adults. For children under 12 years of age, the medicine “Solpadein”, the instructions for use recommends taking 0.5 tablets or a maximum of one tablet (capsule) also up to four times a day. In this case, the maximum daily dose of the drug will be 4 capsules (tablets).

Medication "Solpadein" - the composition and form of release are as follows. This drug is available in soluble tablets, capsules and tablets. One capsule (tablet) contains 500 mg of paracetamol. Also included is codeine phosphate hemihydrate 8 mg and caffeine 30 mg.

The drug "Solpadein" (soluble tablets) are available in laminated strips, which contain two tablets. There are six such strips in the package. Tablets and capsules of the drug are available in blisters for 6 and 12 pieces. One package contains one blister.

Describing the pharmacodynamics of the drug "Solpadein", the instructions for use affect every substance in its composition. In particular, the antipyretic and analgesic effect of the drug “Solpadein” is due to paracetamol. Codeine also affects opioid receptors, suppressing the urge to cough, changing the nature of pain, its perception by the brain. The analgesic effect of these drugs, in turn, is enhanced by caffeine. Thanks to caffeine, the concentration of other components of Solpadein in the brain also increases.

Contraindications to taking the drug "Solpadein", first of all, note an increased sensitivity to any component of this medicine. Also, this drug is not prescribed for severe hepatic and renal pathologies, previous traumatic brain injury, respiratory depression, increased intracranial pressure, and it is also not prescribed for children under the age of twelve,

The general course of treatment with this medicine should not continue after seven days of continuous use.

Side effects caused by the use of the drug "Solpadein" include the following manifestations:

- when taken orally, tablets: constipation, nausea, swelling;

- rash, drowsiness or, conversely, insomnia, nervous agitation, dizziness are possible.

Both soluble tablets and capsules can cause similar side effects. In rare cases, changes in blood composition, hypotension, arrhythmia were recorded.

Signs of an overdose of the drug:

  • stomach ache,

  • pallor,

  • vomiting

Severe poisoning can lead to liver failure, which, in turn, can provoke encelophalopathy, to whom, and even lead to death. Cases of cardiac arrhythmia have been noted. Ingestion by adults of more than 10 mg of paracetamol can lead to liver pathology. The same applies to children who have taken more than 150 mg of this drug per kilogram of their weight.

Cases of overdose, of course, require immediate qualified help. Before the arrival of doctors, gastric lavage should be performed.

Keep the drug away from children at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
