The composition of this drug includes one part of sulfur itself, as well as two parts of an emulsion consisting of water and petroleum jelly. When sulfuric ointment is applied to the skin, its main component enters into a certain reaction with the substances of organic matter, forming acid and sulfides. These formations significantly contribute to the restoration of the epidermis, which is the main indicator in the process of treating diseases associated with skin integument.

Some conditions must be observed during treatment with a drug such as sulfuric ointment. Instructions for use advises to wash with soap and wipe thoroughly before applying the ointment to the skin. Before going to bed, it is recommended to smear the body or affected areas and try not to rinse off the drug during the day. Before you apply the ointment again in the evening, you must again take a warm shower or bath to cleanse the body of the ointment. Constant washing of the body after daily walking with the drug applied is one of the main conditions.

Only if all the recommendations are followed, it will be possible to achieve a quick effect from treatment with such a remedy as sulfur ointment. Indications for use of the drug are diseases such as scabies, seborrheic dermatitis, acne. You can treat scabies in children up to two months, as well as in pregnant and lactating mothers. A drug is also prescribed for those who, for various reasons, cannot use stronger drugs. In the treatment of skin diseases, sulfuric ointment is the safest.

But, despite the safety of this drug, dry skin may occur - this is perhaps the only side effect of the drug. In addition to the absence of side effects, the ointment has such advantages as high efficiency and affordable cost. There is another unpleasant moment: sulfuric ointment tends to stain clothes and give everything an unpleasant smell. For this reason, it is recommended to wear only old clothes during treatment and use old bedding, as it is almost impossible to remove the smell and the resulting stains.

Based on sulfur, there are other drugs. These products contain elemental sulfur, which has the property of being activated only when interacting with organic substances. For example, when ointments are applied to the skin, sulfides and a special acid are formed, which just fight various microbes and parasites. In addition, sulfides tend to significantly accelerate and enhance the formation of the horny, topmost layer of the skin.

Sulfur, precipitated and purified, is added to medical preparations. By itself, it looks like a fine lemon-yellow powder, which is highly soluble in water. In the treatment of skin diseases, sulfur ointment is applied externally. But sulfur can also be taken orally as an antiparasitic agent. Precipitated sulfur is practically odorless and does not dissolve in water. As a rule, it is taken only externally in the form of powders or the same ointment. Sulfur ointment, which is familiar to many, is made from such sulfur. The precipitated sulfur variant cannot be taken inside, since there is a risk of the formation of a large amount of hydrogen sulfide in the intestine. When absorbed, this element can cause nausea, vomiting, headache and many other, rather unpleasant things.
