Plot
“Solomon Kane” is a film whose actors, embodying the director’s idea on the screen, told the audience the tragic story of an outstanding personality. According to the story, an international adventurer soldier, a bloodthirsty and fierce Puritan, taking part in the storming of the castle, meets the Reaper of the devil himself. The creature, triumphant, announces to Solomon that his soul is cursed. Trying to escape the Fiery Hyena, Kane gives all his savings to the church and lives a hermit, trying to atone for sins. But once the abbot asks the hero to leave the cozy walls of the monastery, following the instructions of heaven. Wandering in embarrassment from the prospect of Britain’s roads, Kane meets pious travelers — the Crowthorne family bound for America. But the surroundings along which the path of unintended companions passes are captured by an evil sorcerer who annihilates all living things. And again, Solomon Kane will be forced to take up arms. The main actor of the film positions his character as a complex unique nature, demonstrating the versatility of the character of the hero at every opportunity.

The director basically tried to comply with the appearance of his movie hero and that described by Howard Solomon, although the cinema Kane turned out to be pleasantly similar to Van Helsing. The image was embodied on the screen by a graduate of one of the most prestigious theater schools in England, James Purfoy, shamelessly outwardly similar to Hugh Jackman. The handsome man perfectly coped with the task, presenting in all its glory to the viewer in the image of an insanely charismatic macho, stretching the whole story on his magnificent shoulders. However, “Solomon Kane” is a film whose actors have proved their professionalism and solvency in a dramatic field.
James Purefoy
The actor is really in place. James has an impressive filmography, in which the film “Resident Evil” and the series “Rome” are especially known to the viewer. But the project "Solomon Kane" the actor deservedly considers his benefit. He prepared for this role very seriously, reread all the stories of Robert Irwin Howard, trying to understand what was the culture and life of the Puritans. After that, he began hard physical training. For two months, he got up very early and alternated with classes in the gym with sword fighting and horse riding. During the preparatory and filming periods, he lost 11 kilograms, but achieved what he wanted - he got a dry, muscular, wolf image.

In the film "Solomon Kane" actor Purefoy again met with Jason Fleming, with whom he had already worked in the film "The Iron Knight". Fleming is rightly considered the legend of the British film industry, his filmography exceeds 70 paintings. Jason is not only a professional, but also a very pleasant person, constantly in a great mood, which is very important for participating in such gloomy paintings.
The role of Meredith Crowthorne was performed by British actress and model Rachel Heard-Wood. The girl, despite her young age, coped with her role, which does not require top-level acting.
In general, supporting actors do not greatly surprise the beholder, individual characters are completely erased from memory after changing the frame. Perhaps this is a directorial ploy - the main character is overshadowed by all the others.
