Biological death always occurs gradually, it goes through certain stages. People often talk about its suddenness, in fact, we simply are not able to recognize the first manifestations of death in time.
There is a so-called terminal state, that is, a period characterized by a sharp failure in the work of all internal organs, while the pressure decreases to a critical level, metabolism is noticeably disturbed. It is this condition that includes certain periods that characterize biological death. Among them, one can distinguish predagonia, agony, clinical and biological death.
Predagonia is the first stage of the dying process. At this stage, there is a sharp decrease in the activity of all vital functions, for example, pressure drops to a critical level, and not only the cardiac muscle of the myocardium, respiratory system, but also brain activity are disrupted. A characteristic feature of predagonia is the fact that the pupils still react to light.
By agony, specialists mean literally the last surge of life. Indeed, during this period, there is still a weak heartbeat, but it is no longer possible to determine the pressure. At the same time, a person inhales air from time to time, and the reaction of the pupils to bright light slows down significantly, becomes lethargic. We can conclude that the hope of returning the patient to life fades before our eyes.
The next stage is clinical death. It is also called the intermediate stage between final death and life. It lasts no more than five minutes in the warm season, and in the cold period the process of dying off brain cells is significantly slowed down, so biological death occurs only after half an hour. The main signs of clinical and biological death, which combine them and at the same time distinguish them from other stages, include a complete shutdown of the central nervous system, stoppage of the respiratory tract and circulatory system.
Clinical death means that the victim can still be brought back to life with the full restoration of the main functions. After its establishment, resuscitation measures should be carried out, namely artificial respiration and indirect heart massage. In the presence of positive dynamics, resuscitation can be carried out for several hours in a row, until the arrival of an ambulance. Then a team of doctors will provide qualified assistance. The first signs of improving well-being are considered normalization of complexion, the presence of pupils' reactions to light.
Biological death involves the complete cessation of the functioning of the basic processes of the body, providing further life. But the most important thing: these losses are irreversible, therefore, any measures to restore life will be completely useless and have no meaning.
Signs of biological death
The first symptoms are considered to be the complete absence of a pulse, the cessation of the activity of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, and no dynamics are observed within half an hour. Sometimes it is very difficult to distinguish between a biological stage and a clinical stage. After all, the fear that the victim can still be brought back to life is always tormented. In this situation, you should adhere to the main criterion. Remember that with clinical death, the pupil of a person resembles a cat's eye, and with biological it is as wide as possible. In addition, the reaction of the eye to bright light or to the touch of a foreign object is not manifested. A person is unnaturally pale, and after three to four hours cadaveric spots appear on his body , and a rigor mortis occurs after a maximum of 24 hours.
