In 2008, the Indian film "Jodha and Akbar", a story of great love, was shot. The leading actors are Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan. The director of the film, he is also the producer, Ashutosh Gouvariker invited them for market reasons, since both actors are stars of the first magnitude and it was necessary to strengthen the image of the film from the very beginning. No one knew how the Indian public would perceive the historical film with political overtones. And popular actors often “pull out” failed movie projects just by their presence in the frame.
Politics and feelings
However, the film "Jodha and Akbar" is a story of great love. Actors of Indian cinema can best play precisely love scenes, such are the traditions of Bollywood. The creators of the film counted on this, and first of all the director Gouvariker. The script was written taking into account the human qualities of Aishwarya and Hrithik, the character traits of the performers were shifted into the characters of the main characters, and it turned out that the actors played themselves as if they were in the 16th century.
The plot focuses on the historical marriage alliance, which was conceived by the ambitious emperor Akbar. The more he conquered new lands, the more difficult it was to manage them. His possessions, the ancestral lands of the Mughals, multiplied as a result of bloody wars, but the conquered peoples were reluctant to submit to the will of a cruel and prudent tyrant. After trying to impose his dominance on the thousands of Rajputs, Akbar realized that this time he could not get along with them.
Akbar's decision
And then the ruler decided to intermarry with the wayward nation. The Rajput King Bharmal had a daughter, Princess Jodha, and Akbar chose her to carry out his plans. He had no idea what the intended political marriage would be for him. The permanent ruler of the Mughal Empire intended to enter into a political marriage with the daughter of Bharmal, while no response from the princess was observed.
Princess thinks differently
Moreover, Jodha does not even hide his hatred of the tyrant. Hindus and Muslims were never distinguished by a special disposition towards each other, a dominant feeling, and they both had hostility. Jodha and Akbar (the actors played their characters superbly) also do not feel mutual interest, especially the princess, who is upset that she will have to become the wife of an unloved person, who is also an enslaver of her people.
What did Jodha do?
However, the princess thinks constructively, tries to restrain her emotions and ultimately decides to sacrifice herself for the welfare of the Rajputs. She draws closer to Akbar, accepts his society as inevitable, and, to her surprise, notices that he is not such a cruel and unprincipled person as Jodha had imagined him before. A woman suddenly awakens in her, sympathetic and attentive, able to listen and understand. For Akbar, communication with the bride also becomes unexpectedly welcome.
Accustomed to command Jalaladdin Akbar will be much surprised by the changes in his attitude that came after several meetings with the princess. He felt that he lacked communication with the girl. Until recently, in a ruthless heart, love arose. Understanding comes, and they are already trying to spend as much time as possible together.
Change
In the film "Jodha and Akbar" the leading actors, as well as simple extras and the rest of the filming sincerely empathized with the heroes, everyone wanted a great love story to have a happy ending. Jodha, who conquered her husband with meekness and female attention, gradually inclines him to decency, from a tyrant Akbar turns into a merciful ruler, who is no longer alien to humanity.
Project on TV
In addition to the full-length film, the television series "Jodha and Akbar" was also created, the actors in which others had already participated. The princess was played by actress Parigi Sharma, and the ruler of Jalaladdin Akbar was played by the popular Rajat Tokas. Later, the cast in the series was expanded, several more characters were added to the script, which made it possible to film dozens of additional episodes.
Such films were rarely shot in Bollywood, in fact, this film project became one of a kind and even unique, although it was called simply - "Jodha and Akbar." The actors and roles of the series demanded full compatibility and conformity, any discrepancy between the artist’s type and the character’s synopsis could destroy the film’s organics.
Difficulties in staging
Initially, when work began on the Jodha and Akbar project, the actors and roles of the series, the director and the team of producers all came together in a single creative organism that began to work for a decent result. But the shooting lasted a long time, most of the episodes had to be duplicated, the specificity of the historical material affected. The quality of the performance left much to be desired, many episodes were repeated from series to series.
Public disappointment
Nevertheless, the series "Jodha and Akbar", in which the actors played not at full strength, got its own, albeit not numerous, audience. However, the disappointment of the audience grew with each new series, the logic in the production became less and less, the chronology was absent, no one followed the script. The actors and roles of the series "Jodha and Akbar" were not always and not in harmony in everything. And in the end, the shooting stopped, and the project was closed. However, the actors of the series "Jodha and Akbar" did not remain without work, they were already waiting for them on another project. Hopefully he will be more successful.
At the same time, the full-length film "Jodha and Akbar", the actors and roles in which fully corresponded to the director's intention, continued to collect full halls.
