Yellow tongue. Causes

White, yellow and white-yellow plaque on the tongue is nothing more than the deposition of microparticles of various colors on the surface of the tongue. Also, plaque can be black, brown and even green. In most cases, such a plaque, first of all, indicates a violation of the digestive processes in the human body.

A thin coating of white is a normal phenomenon for a healthy person, since it is formed due to the physiological structure: the characteristic color of the surface of the tongue is given by small papillae with hard endings covering the tongue.

The yellow tongue and the appearance of a dense coating, through which the surface of the tongue is not visible, as well as other unusual colors, indicates diseases of the body, and what specific diseases are involved, can be determined by the color of the coating.

As a result of disruption of the digestive system in the tongue, a white opaque coating forms. Which part of the digestive system malfunctions is determined by the place of plaque formation. A plaque formed on both sides of the tongue indicates kidney disease, plaque in the front and on the sides indicates lung disease.

A dense white coating with a grayish tint that densely covers most of the surface of the tongue, inherent in people suffering from intestinal obstruction, stagnation of food in the intestine / stomach, constipation. A thick white coating accumulated at the base of the tongue indicates a disease such as enterocolitis (inflammation of the small and large intestines at the same time). In some cases, white plaque appears as a result of the development of infectious diseases in the human body. Focal occurrence of dense plaque of white color may be the result of dysbiosis, stomatitis or fungal diseases of the oral cavity.

A yellow tongue indicates a violation of the movement of bile. A person suffering from diseases of the pancreas, gall bladder, liver has a yellow tongue characteristic of these diseases (plaque settles on the central part of the surface of the tongue). Basically, the yellow tongue is a consequence of such disorders as inflammation of the gallbladder, excess bile, liver disease, etc.

The appearance of white or yellow plaque on the tongue is most often accompanied by an unpleasant odor from the oral cavity. Candidiasis in the tongue may be the result of a decrease in general or local immunity. White and whitish-gray plaque can be a sign of serious infectious diseases such as typhoid, scarlet fever, etc. Therefore, it is very important to consult a doctor on time and identify the cause of plaque in the tongue. In no case should this fact be ignored in order to avoid undesirable and serious consequences. It is not enough just to clean the tongue, as the cause of the occurrence is hidden in the diseases of organs. As a rule, when a disease cured by the plaque is cured, it disappears on its own.

Of course, you can cleanse plaque from your tongue yourself in order to reduce its amount, but you should remember that plaque is just a consequence and this procedure will not help in eliminating the cause, namely the disease of the body. A special brush is usually used to clean the tongue , and many modern toothbrushes also have an extra brush to clean the tongue. To eliminate the unpleasant odor, which is a compulsory companion of plaque in the tongue, you can use special fluids designed to rinse and give freshness to the oral cavity. As well as traditional candies, chewing gums (preferably with a pronounced mint flavor). However, remember that all this can be used in the treatment of the disease, as a result of which there was a plaque, but these procedures should not be the only solution to the problem. Treatment is required!
