'Valocardin': instructions for use

"Valocardin" is a combined sedative. It is produced in the form of drops, colorless and having a strong aroma. Many people have come across this drug at least once, as the “Valocardin” instruction recommends for use in a wide variety of disorders.

Apply this tool for mild spasms of the heart vessels, tachycardia, with a constant increase in blood pressure (initial stage of hypertension), intestinal cramps. In addition, the drug is used for neurological disorders, for example, neurosis, increased irritability, sleep disturbances.

The therapeutic effect of "Valocardin" is due, primarily, to the components that enter it. So, phenobarbital is characterized by a sedative and vasodilating effect, and additionally has a mild hypnotic effect. It reduces the excitation of the central nervous system, which contributes to the onset of natural sleep. Ethyl bromisovalerianate is characterized not only by a sedative, but also an antispasmodic effect. Peppermint oil has a vasodilator activity.

Thanks to this, “Valocordin” is widely used, given that it does not have many contraindications. This drug is not recommended for patients with high sensitivity to any of the components of the drug, if the patient has severe forms of impaired renal or hepatic function. During pregnancy, this medication can be resorted to only if absolutely necessary and after consultation with the doctor. The same applies to the period of breastfeeding.

Since "Valocardin", the instructions for which should be carefully studied to avoid side effects, contains ethanol, it is used with caution in liver diseases, alcoholism, and head injuries.

The dose of the drug is prescribed individually, taking into account the diagnosis and after consulting a specialist. For adults, it is, in most cases, 15-20 drops. If necessary, you can increase up to 30 drops. The drug is taken 2-3 times a day immediately before meals. With tachycardia, a single application of 40 drops is sufficient. Taking the drug for children should be prescribed only by a doctor. Most often, they are prescribed from 3 drops (no more than 15), depending on the picture of the disease and age. In case of sleep disorders, it is enough to take the medicine once a day, at night, increasing the dosage to 30 drops.

In addition to the drug "Valocardin", the instructions for use describe side effects that may occur during treatment. Despite the fact that most often it is well tolerated even with prolonged use, sometimes dizziness and weakness can occur in the daytime . If you are sensitive to the components, an allergic reaction in the form of a skin rash may appear. If large doses are used for a long time, there is a chance of developing conjunctivitis, rhinitis, the appearance of depressive states, apathy, and impaired coordination of movements. In the case when these or other signs are observed, it is necessary to stop taking the drug and consult a specialist.

In case of overdose, you need to rinse the stomach. In such cases, drowsiness, dizziness, and a violation of psychomotor reactions occur.

For the drug "Valocardin", the instruction also provides for its interaction with other drugs. It enhances the effect of other sedatives, tranquilizers and antipsychotics. Phenobarbital, which is part of the drops, reduces the effectiveness of oral contraceptives and glucocorticosteroids.

The simultaneous use of alcohol enhances the effect of the drug, but at the same time increases its toxicity.
