The drug 'Zitrolide': instructions, analogues, contraindications

The medicine "Zitrolide" is an antimicrobial drug from the macrolide group. Despite the fact that it was created to combat microbial infections, if a very high concentration of the drug is created at the site of inflammation, it can have an antibacterial effect.

The drug "Zitrolide", the instructions for the drug indicate this, does not affect only bacteria resistant to erythromycin (gram-positive).

The active substance of this drug is azithromycin, excipients are magnesium stearate and cellulose. The substances are placed in a white gelatin capsule; the capsule lid is orange.

What does the drug "Zitrolide" treat?

The instruction gives clear recommendations. The medicine is prescribed for the treatment of:

  • tonsillitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, other infections of the upper respiratory tract;
  • bronchitis, pneumonia, lower respiratory tract diseases;
  • dermatoses, erysipelas, impetigo, other skin diseases caused by gram-positive microbes or bacteria;

Well-known drug "Zitrolide" with sinusitis. However, it is not assigned to everyone. Like any antibiotics, the medicine "Zitrolide" (the instruction warns about this) has contraindications. It is contraindicated for people who do not tolerate macrolide antibiotics, lactating and pregnant. With great caution, an antibiotic is prescribed to people suffering from arrhythmias. It is not indicated for patients with hepatic or renal failure, a newborn.

Antibiotics sometimes have side, not quite pleasant effects. Are there any side effects of Zitrolide?

The instruction claims that side effects do not occur often, but they can be. It can cause nausea, upset stools, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Sometimes, especially in children, constipation occurs. In adults, transaminase levels may increase, jaundice, cholecystitis, gastritis may appear. Hives, allergic edema, itching are much more common. In extremely rare cases, the antibiotic "Zitrolide", the instruction warns, can cause dizziness, arrhythmia, anxiety, and insomnia.

However, already such contraindications are enough to not use the medicine without the appointment of a specialist. Only a doctor prescribes the drug. He selects the right dose of medicine.

Most often, the drug is taken in half a gram once a day with sinusitis. In other cases, the drug "Zitrolide" instruction recommends taking 1 g at the first dose and half a gram in the following.

The medicine can not be consumed for more than three days, and its total amount in the body should not exceed 1.5 g for sinusitis and 3 g for other infections.

In case of an overdose, severe nausea, a sharp drop in pressure, vomiting, temporary hearing loss can occur.

Most often, this drug is packaged in 250 mg capsules. However, there is a medicine "Zitrolide 500", in which the active substance is twice as much.

The antibiotic released in Russia, Zitrolide, like any drugs, has analogues produced in other countries. This is the Croatian drug Sumamed, the Serbian drug Hemomycin, our Russian drugs Azitrox, Zi-Factor, the Czech drug Azicide, the Indian Zitrocin, the Lithuanian Ecomed, the Turkish Tremak-Sanovel "

Despite the fact that the drugs have a similar effect on microbes, when replacing them, you should always consult your doctor. Firstly, the preparations may contain excipients that do not coincide with the composition of the antibiotic Zitrolide. Secondly, the requirements for the production of drugs are different in different countries, so drugs can differ in quality and concentration of the active substance.

All drugs are not cheap. However, replacing the drug prescribed by the doctor with another, you need to think carefully: is it worth saving money on your health?
