Moscow Drama Theater "ApArte" is a fairly young theater. For most, the name of the theater is incomprehensible. And everything is quite simple: the name means "replica to the side." The emphasis on the syllable "art" emphasizes attachment to high art. Thus, the theater expresses its position, shows the scope of its existence.
Theater History
The theater began its journey from the 19th century. In 1812, the ApArte Drama Theater suffered a sad fate: it was subjected to a fire. After that, it was rebuilt. In 1878, philanthropist Lepeshkin Semyon Vasilyevich bought a plot and opened a free hostel for students of Imperial Moscow University. This hostel existed under the supervision of the founder S.V. Lepeshkin and the committee, which included the administration and deans of the faculties.
In addition to the hostel, the university had a large reading room and library.
Of particular importance was the library. Its development was given more time. It was quickly replenished with various new editions, and soon the entire basement was converted for storage of books.
In 1912, a new building for a hostel was built on Zubovsky Boulevard. As a result, the house is being handed over to the Moscow Women's Club, located in Phillipinsky Lane. In the building in the Soviet era, the auditorium of the Moscow printing house No. 3 “Sparks of the Revolution” is located.
New theater building
With the advent of the 90s, Andrei Lyubimov created “ApArte” - a theater whose troupe history begins at the studio of the “Citizens Group” theater. She was reorganized into the ApArte Theater in 1998. And soon there was a joyful event for ApArte: the theater is finally acquiring its stage. For the collective, this meant that the time of wandering around different scenes was over. The already completed troupe received a new impetus to create a full-fledged creative repertoire.
“ApArte” is a theater, the structure of which is located in the architectural and historical zone of the Zemlyanoy Val.
The building, located on Solzhenitsyn Street, has been restored. During the reconstruction of the building, the architects maximally preserved the original brickwork of the 19th century brick. A visit to the cafe located here inside the theater will allow you to relax and tune in to the theater mood before the performance.
The hall itself was built by an amphitheater with 110 seats. This type of architecture provides a good overview from anywhere in the hall. The theater has seats for people with disabilities. While waiting for the performance, you can use the buffet in the spacious lobby, as well as access to the square.
Repertoire "ApArte"
ApArte is a theater that takes its repertoire very carefully. It includes not only classical Russian and foreign works, but also productions of contemporary authors. The secret to the success of the theater is that the collective allows the viewer not just to plunge into a famous work. It is shown in such a way that the viewer looks at the production differently, from an unusual angle, and in some cases not entirely clear.

Currently, the Moscow Drama Theater "ApArte" is managed by Ivan Sigorsky and Andrei Lyubimov. State cultural institution - this status has the Moscow theater "ApArte". His repertoire is quite diverse. The most famous performance is considered to be "Ivan and the Devil", created based on the novel by Fedor Dostoevsky "The Brothers Karamazov." Chekhov's “Three Sisters” became an example for the creation of the play “Masha, Irina, Olga and others.” For children, the troupe staged “Captain, Captain, Smile!”, Which is liked by children of any age.
Lyubimov is a theater democrat who gave shelter to young, inexperienced youth and allowed her to create within the walls of the ApArte Theater. Young directors and actors often expressed their opinions during work, which significantly differed from the opinions of Andrei Gennadievich.
Harold Strelkov - theater legend
The troupe includes a truly serious master - Harold Strelkov. He represents a fundamentally new generation of actors of the Russian scene.
Through Strelkov, the theater is seen as smart, sophisticated, without unnecessary pretense and tediousness. He really sees a person, sees a meaningful life. These criteria have always distinguished the Russian theater. Visiting Harold Strelkov’s performances, the audience seems to be taking a course of immunotherapy. He begins to fight hope, overcoming its deficit.
