Radagast is a character in the works of John Ronald Roel Tolkien. The full name of this sorcerer is Radagast Brown. He is one of the magicians - members of the White Council. The main difference from other wizards is a detailed knowledge of the habits of animals and birds that inhabit Middle-earth.
The appearance of the Brown Mage
The funny old man riding on rabbits harnessed to a sled and treating sick hedgehogs, of course, was not taken seriously by the White magician. Despite the fact that the character Radagast appeared in Middle-earth a very long time ago. According to the historical Chronicle, told by Tolkien, this happened in about 1000 3 eras. Valie Yavanna, by her influence, convinced Saruman to treat Brown as an equal magician. But the peculiar image of the inhabitant of the forests and the patron of all living beings was very contrary to her words.
The White Elder's neglect of him did not become the reason that two good wizards soon became friends. Thus, Radagast in the book about the journey of Bilbo Beggins with the Dwarves appears not only as a friend. The author calls him the cousin of Gandalf the Gray.
Radagast is a character in Tolkien's works of an earlier age. He is presented to the reader in The Silmarillion. Here he assists Saruman in confronting Sauron. With its help, birds were used as observers for the actions of the latter.
Fatal Sorcerer Mistake
One of the significant shortcomings that the Radagast character was endowed with was his neglect of the political games taking place next to him. Living in Rosgobel near the southern outskirts of Likholesya, he did not delve into the affairs of the White Council.

Saruman did not immediately notice the escape.
As the author himself explained, Radagast is a character who is fond of flora and fauna, and this exactly provoked the failure of the task assigned to him - control of Sauron. But nevertheless, this mistake is not perceived as strongly as the betrayal of Saruman, thereby allowing his return to the Immortal Earth.

The character Radagast first appeared on the screen only in the second trilogy, shot by Peter Jackson. In The Lord of the Rings, his image was presented as a moon moth, through which Gandalf Gray sent a message of help (in the book this happened in a slightly different scenario).
As a real character, Brown appears in the first part of the “Unexpected Journey” trilogy. He is presented to the audience as a strong magician, able to withstand dark forces, who can effortlessly drive away from his house huge evil spiders descending to the edge of the Mirkwood.
The role of the magician in the works of Tolkien and Jackson
Despite the fact that Radagast is a character who looks a little silly and funny, he is a serious sorcerer. It was he who first noticed the presence of a Necromancer in Dol Guldur and notified Gandalf the Gray about this. He confirms the strength and power of his magical powers by knocking the sword out of his hands in a battle with the Sorcerer King with the help of his wooden staff. And even the wargs, famous for their speed, cannot catch a unique cart with harnessed gigantic breed rabbits.
However, all this does not impress Saruman. In his eyes, Radagast is a humorous character who should not be taken seriously. He tries to ignore all the messages received from the Brown Magician, explaining that the eccentric has overeaten of mushrooms that cause hallucinations.
Where did he go afterwards
Of all 5 sorcerers who were set up in Middle-earth to control the powers of darkness, only one Gandalf, who later became White, that is, the main one, remained faithful to his task to the end. The character Radagast after a little intervention in the confrontation between good and evil disappears from the field of view and the plot as a whole.
Subsequently, there was another mention of him. When, at the conclusion of Elrond’s council, it was decided to bring all allies together. The messenger sent for him came with the news that the magician had not been in place for a long time. The author did not provide readers with reliable information about where the Brown Magician had stocked; he only said that something had happened to him.
