Functional diseases of the biliary system are among the most common diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. For these diseases, the most typical is cholestasis syndrome, the development of which is due to a violation of the formation and outflow of bile with the accumulation of its components in the liver and blood. As a result, patients develop bile stasis in the gallbladder. Clinically, this is manifested by the appearance of pain or a feeling of heaviness in the right hypochondrium, a tendency to nausea and vomiting, constipation and other symptoms that indicate digestive disorders.

With the development of these phenomena, the purpose of pharmaceutical drugs belonging to the group of choleretic drugs is indicated. This group of drugs includes Odeston.

Odeston is available in tablet form. The active substance of the drug Odeston is Gimecromon. Each tablet contains 0.2 g of gimekromona. Excipients are sodium lauryl sulfate, gelatin, magnesium stearate and potato starch. Odeston is produced in blisters of 50 pieces, in cardboard packs containing 5 blisters, or in blisters of 10 pieces. Taking the drug is prohibited in the presence of peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, obstruction of the biliary tract, as a complication of cholelithiasis, severe symptoms of liver and kidney failure. Odeston is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, since its effect on the development of the fetus and the body of infants has not been studied. It is possible to prescribe the drug only if the benefit of its use by the mother exceeds the risk of a negative effect on the child and fetus. Contraindications for use also include hemophilia, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.

Dosage and dosage regimen Odeston instruction recommends the following:

1) Adults are shown to take the drug at 0.2-0.4 g, which corresponds to 1-2 tablets at a time three times a day. Within one day, you can take no more than 0.8 g, which corresponds to 8 tablets.

2) Odeston for children over 12 years of age is recommended to take 0.2-0.6 g, which corresponds to 1-3 tablets once or three times a day.

Odeston is taken 30 minutes before a meal, drinking tablets with a sufficient amount of liquid. The duration of the course of drug therapy is usually two to three weeks.
