For the treatment of chronic allergies, as well as in order to prevent symptoms of its development, the drug "Cetrin" is often used. Indications for use can be different: it can be an allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis (both seasonal and chronic), angioedema, chronic relapsing urticaria. Also, this tool can be used in the treatment of allergic and atopic dermatitis.
The drug "Cetrin" is an antihistamine of the latest generation, which has not so many side effects and contraindications for the effectiveness of the action. But what is histamine? This is a substance that transfers excitation from one cell to another, that is, it is a natural mediator. It is involved in inflammatory and allergic processes, and is also responsible for the acidity and secretion of gastric juice. Receptors that are sensitive to histamine are located on the cells of many tissues, and they provide the spread of an allergic reaction.
These reactions begin with the fact that leukocytes rush to the allergy focus, which are responsible for the processes of opposing the organism of “external danger” - eosinophils, which contribute to the development of inflammation, after which the “histamine” line comes. The indications existing for the Cetrin preparation also include a prophylactic effect that prevents the development of an allergic reaction due to blocking the migration of eosinophils at its early stage.
If an allergic reaction has already begun, then this tool is able to block these receptors, blocking the access of histamine to other cells and tissues. This is the main effect of the drug. Unlike drugs of previous generations, Cetrin, the indications for which cover a wide range of allergic reactions of various origins, does not inhibit the central nervous system and lasts a long time (about a day).
Histamine, among other things, increases the permeability of blood vessels, which can cause swelling and redness of the tissues. The drug "Cetrin" is able to level this effect and prevent a decrease in blood pressure, which usually occurs with anaphylactic shock. Also, this tool facilitates the course of allergies at any stage.
The medicine "Cetrin", the indications for use for which are not limited to allergies, can also be used to eliminate itching of any origin, since histamine also participates in its formation.
This drug must be used in accordance with the instructions, one tablet per day, it does not matter - before or after a meal. Take a pill with a small amount of water. For children, Cetrin can be prescribed half a tablet twice a day. Until the age of six, this remedy should not be used.
During pregnancy, it is strictly contraindicated to use the drug “Cetrin” during pregnancy during the first 12 weeks, since the development of organs and the laying of fetal tissues depend on the effects of histamine. It also promotes the introduction of a fertilized egg into the uterine wall and the development of the embryo. Histamine suppression can disrupt these processes. In addition, there are no reliable data on the effects of Cetrin and other antihistamines, since there are practically no clinical trials for pregnant women. After a 12-week period, with great care, taking into account all the indications and contraindications that exist for the Cetrin preparation, allergies can be treated with constant monitoring by the attending physician.
You can not take the drug during lactation, as it is excreted in milk. It is also contraindicated to use it with increased sensitivity to the constituent components. In diseases of the kidneys, accompanied by chronic renal failure, the drug is taken with caution and in no case independently.
