Hindi-language cinema - Bollywood - produces about 900 films a year, that is 3 times more than the American film industry as a whole. Mumbai, the former Bombay, is sometimes also called the "city of dreams", because it is here that the famous film sets are located .
All over the world there are many fans of both Indian films and actors acting in them. For example, Abhishek Bachchan, whose filmography we will examine below, is well known not only in his homeland, but also in Russia.
Way to the cinema
In February 1976, in Bombay, the son of Abhishek was born in the famous acting family. His grandfather, poet and translator Harivans Shrivastav, took the pseudonym Bachchan, becoming the founder of the creative dynasty. Abhishek’s father is known in India as an actor, screenwriter, producer and television presenter. The same can be said of his mother.
In a word, the Bachchan family is closely connected with the film industry, so the choice of a future profession for their son, it would seem, was predetermined. Nevertheless, Abhishek initially began to study economics at the University of Boston. However, at the age of 24, he changed his mind by choosing an acting profession.
The first films of Abhishek Bachchan
The filmography of the actor is headed by the film “The Forsaken” (2000). Although the picture itself was not very successful, it brought fame to Abhishek, which gave the debutant confidence. However, the seventeen subsequent films in which the actor starred for almost three years, were a failure.
This twist of fate nevertheless did not break Abhishek. He continued to improve acting and, as it turned out, not in vain. The turning point in his professional career came after the release of the movie "I'm going crazy with love" (2003). The role of Prem Kumar, performed by him in this film, earned high praise not only from the audience, but also from film critics.
The film “At the Crossroads of Fate” (2004) brought the young actor an Indian Film Institute award. In the same year, Abhishek starred in the film “Bikers”, which became the leader of the box office.
2005 was the most fruitful year for the actor: the filmography of Abhishek Bachchan replenished immediately with 8 films. The picture “In the footsteps of the father”, in addition to the prestigious award, brought its creators also good box office. But the biggest commercial success in the overseas box office was in 2006 the melodrama "Never Say Goodbye", where Abhishek played Rishi Talvara, from whom his wife left. It was during these years (2004-2006) that it became clear that a new star appeared in Bollywood.
Together not only in life
Loyal fans of Indian cinema in the spring of 2007 heatedly discussed the wedding of already world-famous Abhishek Bachchan and actress Aishwarya Rai, the 1994 Miss World title holder.
In the crime thriller Sarkar Raj (2008), the couple played together, although this was not their first joint work. They met on the set of the film “A few words about love” back in 2000, when Abhishek was just taking his first steps in cinema. Then they starred in Bikers-2 (2006), and after the wedding, in The Villain, a criminal action movie, which was not the first in the filmography of Abhishek Bachchan.
The work of recent years
The new version of American Robbery called Players was filmed in 2012, not only in Bollywood. Since, in the story, a team of fraudsters decides to rob a train moving to Romania from Russia, some of the filming was conducted on the territory of the Russian Federation.
In the filmography of Abhishek Bachchan, the tape "Bikers-3", shot in 2013, occupies a special place. She became not only one of the most expensive Bollywood paintings, but also got into the list of the most profitable in the history of Indian cinema.
Recently, the actor starred a little, in comparison with previous years:
