The unprecedented success of “Supernatural” haunts television people who, being in a constant creative search, regularly offer the public many variations on the topic. Having gained experience in Call of Blood, Emily Andras borrowed from the graphic novel only the main storyline. Actors of the Winona Earp series embodied on the screen the story of the 27-year-old heiress of the legendary lawyer of the Wild West Wyatt Earp, who stands up to protect her family from demonic undead.
If we compare the show with other television projects, then the Winona Erp season 1 is a mixture of “Supernatural” (events develop in the provincial surroundings and swirl around the heroine’s family), “Jessica Jones” (the main character is quite aggressive and sarcastic) and “Sleepy Hollow” (Winona’s assistant is an African-American government agent played by Chamier Anderson).
Heiress
For the domestic audience, not culturally associated with the mythology of the Wild West, the only merit of the project is actress Melanie Scrofano, who played the role of the central character. Other actors in the series “Winona Earp” do not reach her level. Outwardly extremely attractive girl with a youthful criminal past, prone to alcoholism and without any interest in mysticism (up to a certain point) in the performance of Melanie turned out to be convincing and bright. Her nature is fully manifested after the attack of demons on her sister Waverly (Dominic Provost-Chokley), then Winona takes a family revolver and shows himself to be an excellent shooter - to match his great-great-grandfather.
Scrofano has a charismatic appearance and the eyes needed to pull off such a project, but in those moments when she portrays a "crappy girl" you can hardly believe her. Melanie was much more suited to the image of the "right" reporter from the Canadian show "Reading Thoughts." By the way, in the 6th part of the Saw horror franchise, the girl played one of the victims of the Designer.
