Trichomoniasis is perhaps one of the most common diseases that are transmitted through sexual intercourse. It is caused by the vaginal trichomonads that live in the human urogenital apparatus. This unicellular organism is very viable and can exist for 24 hours in wet clothes, in water and urine. If a person is struck by trichomoniasis, symptoms can appear even after a week, and in many cases the course of the disease can pass without visible signs.
Trichomonas affects both the men and women urethra. In addition, in women, the cervix and vestibule of the vagina suffer, and in men, the prostate gland. If a woman has trichomoniasis, the symptoms will be as follows: foamy discharge of a gray-yellow color from the vagina, pain in urination, itching and redness. Men also have discomfort during urination and white discharge from the urethra.
If the patient has acute trichomoniasis, its symptoms are greatly enhanced: severe itching, profuse leucorrhoea, burning sensation. Often also can pull the lower abdomen strongly. Exacerbation occurs mainly in violation of sexual hygiene and the presence of other infectious diseases such as syphilis or gonorrhea. Untreated trichomoniasis can lead to serious consequences - infertility in women and prostatitis in men.
With a diagnosis of trichomoniasis, treatment can take time from 10 days to one month. First of all, bracing agents are used that enhance the body's defenses. Fried foods, spicy and salty, are excluded from the menu, and alcohol, which is not compatible with anti-trichomonas drugs, is absolutely contraindicated. Strict hygiene and refusal of sexual intercourse also contribute to a speedy recovery. Both partners should be treated at the same time, regardless of whether trichomonads are found in both, or only one.
In the treatment, both general therapy, which kills trichomonads, and local, removes the signs of trichomoniasis - inflammation, itching and the like, are used. In addition, you need to know that local therapy alone does not lead to recovery, but is used only in combination with the main one. Since drugs for treatment are mainly antibiotics, it is necessary to take care of maintaining normal microflora in parallel with the course of treatment. To do this, you can eat foods containing bifidobacteria.
It is recommended to treat partners in the same clinic, which significantly increases its effectiveness. At the end of the course of treatment, repeated tests for trichomoniasis are performed several times within 2 months. Symptoms may disappear, but this does not mean that the cure came in full. Only thorough laboratory tests can confirm that the disease was completely removed.
For the prevention of trichomoniasis, it is advisable to use a condom, which is a fairly reliable protection. If there is sexual intercourse without a condom, you must immediately wash the genitals with laundry soap and use antiseptics such as miramistin. If the disease is found in adults and there are female children in the family, they also need to be examined in order to avoid serious consequences.
It must be remembered that there is, although not a big, chance of contracting this disease through the household. This can be facilitated by the use of personal hygiene products for the patient, underwear, the use of a shared toilet. Traditional medicine offers its own treatment methods - lilac leaves, celandine, calendula, bird cherry, aloe juice, garlic and onion, water tincture of calamus. They also talk about curing the disease with medical leeches. But nevertheless, it is better to consult a specialist who will carry out qualified treatment and not risk your health, since the disease is serious and it is not so easy to cure it.
