Many novice housewives think that preparing fragrant pastries is a job subject only to professional chefs with experience. In fact, you can bake delicious “Puff Ears” cookies in a matter of minutes, without any culinary preparation and even without a special expensive set of ingredients.

It takes a little more than half an hour to cook. Of course, if you risk making puff pastry with your own hands, then a little more time will be spent. But still, the result is worth it.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • 240 ml of water;
  • a pinch of salt;
  • 480 g of wheat flour;
  • 340 g butter;
  • vanillin;
  • granulated sugar - 210 g.

Butter is recommended to be slightly flooded in the microwave or near a hot battery (if you cook in the winter). Add flour to liquid oil and mix. Then pour in the salt and pour the amount of liquid indicated in the recipe. Knead the dough, carefully forming an even rectangle in the process. We roll it out, sprinkle it with plenty of sugar and vanilla. Turn off again. Repeat the procedure several times. As a result, we get puff pastry, which is inferior in taste to the store version.

How to make cookies - “ears” of puff pastry

When the dough is ready, let it stand for a while in the cold. Ten to fifteen minutes will be enough to make the puff pastry. Now proceed to the formation of cookies. First, roll a piece into a rather large layer. Turn the edges to the center. Then again we repeat the same manipulation. Now we’ll collapse the resulting construction in half (the figure shows how to fold the dough to make “Puffed Ears” cookies). The result should be a roll that is cut into small pieces. It turns out ears, or hearts, as they are also called mistresses.

You can sprinkle sugar on top again, so to speak, to make a control sweet shot. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Put the cookies carefully on a baking sheet so that one does not touch the other. Puff pastry, of course, is not so much inflated during baking as yeast, but the distance is recommended. Cooking time is 15-18 minutes.

If there is no time and desire to bother with making dough, then you can use the store option. For the “Puff Ears” cookie recipe, one package is required. Add sugar and cinnamon to taste, as well as ground nuts.

Purchased dough is sold very frozen, so before cooking, you will have to spend time defrosting. We don’t use a microwave, everything goes in a natural way. After defrosting, roll out the dough, sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and nut crumbs. We turn off according to the already familiar and understandable scheme, which is described above and shown in the photo. Cut the “Puff Ears” cookies, place it on a baking sheet covered with parchment. Sent in the oven for ten to fifteen minutes at a temperature of 190 degrees. As soon as the “ears” begin to brown, turn off the heat in the stove, leaving the cookies to reach another five minutes.

Tip: Be sure to use parchment paper or foil when baking cookies. Firstly, sugar will not burn, like baking itself. Secondly, you will not have problems in the future with washing the pan.
