Jaundice: symptoms of the disease

Many diseases require special treatment and a hospital regimen, however, one of the most dangerous is jaundice. Symptoms can be determined by any, with a naked eye look at the patient. The skin during this disease becomes yellowish or completely yellow, the mucous membranes, in particular the eyes and tongue, become pale in color. But most of all, jaundice becomes noticeable on the palms.

If a person has jaundice, the symptoms are complemented by beer-colored urine. It is noteworthy that this symptom appears before all others. What is changing in the body? How to know that it is jaundice? The signs are almost invisible at an early stage.

Human skin turns yellow because bilirubin or carotene rises. However, if you have a pale yellow skin color, you should not immediately go to the doctor, because perhaps you just abused citrus fruits or have been sitting on a carrot diet for a long time . Although, on the other hand, caution does not hurt.

As we have already noted, the reason for this is bilirubin, a product that appears during the breakdown of hemoglobin, which, in turn, is a protein that contains iron and helps oxygen and carbon dioxide move around the body. The place of hemoglobin content is red blood cells, that is, blood cells.

Thus, jaundice, the symptoms of which are described above, is associated with an increase in bilirubin or carotene. But where does this process begin?

Jaundice, signs occur due to liver diseases, in particular such as cyst, cirrhosis, Gilbert syndrome, neoplasms, parasitic lesions, etc., after diseases of the biliary tract, such as tumors, constrictions, etc. In addition, jaundice occurs due to the destruction of red blood cells, that is, when a person is poisoned with poison, alcohol or drugs, he suffers from a blood disease, extensive burns, and hemorrhages.

There is also false jaundice, the signs of which are as follows: only the skin is stained, and the color of the mucous membranes is normal. This type of disease appears due to the use of pumpkins, certain medications, as well as, as we noted above, carrots and oranges.

If you are sure that you have jaundice, its symptoms coincide with the above, do not self-medicate in any case. In various books and on the Internet you can find recipes for traditional medicine, but you do not need to resort to their help, this can only worsen your condition. For example, if you read that choleretic decoctions help to overcome the disease, then this is not so, because if jaundice arose on the basis of cholelithiasis, then pain will also be added to the poor state. So is it worth the risk or is it better to consult a doctor right away? Of course, the last.

What doctors treat this disease? Infectious disease specialist, hematologist, gastroenterologist. But the first person to come to the rescue in this situation is an ambulance doctor.

Jaundice, the consequences of which depend on the initial cause of its occurrence, with proper treatment usually disappears within 2-3 months. However, after this, during the year, you need to avoid physical exertion, and during treatment, adhere to a diet, do not eat anything fried, avoid foods that burden the liver, etc.

It is worthwhile to be especially careful about the jaundice of girls, conduct examinations within 2-3 years after the disease, because if the liver remains at least slightly enlarged, then difficulties will arise during pregnancy.

Try not to contact directly with patients, because jaundice can be infected through viral hepatitis. Be sure to wear a mask when dealing with an infected person.

Jaundice is not at all as scary as it seems. And it’s better to get it in childhood than to suffer later. Although, of course, let's hope that the disease will bypass you!
