Karsil contains dry extract of the fruits of the medicinal plant Milk Thistle. The active substance in it is silymarin (international name - “silibinin”). It converts toxic free radicals in the liver into compounds that do not harm its cells, improves microcirculation in it, protects it from various negative factors, and has an anti-toxic effect. Thanks to the use of this drug, liver cells are updated, which leads to an improvement in the overall well-being of the patient. “Karsil”, which has practically no contraindications, improves appetite and digestion of food and eliminates a significant part of the painful and unpleasant symptoms caused by insufficient functioning of the liver. After taking it, patients have an improvement in laboratory parameters associated with the work of the liver, including bilirubin levels.
As noted in the instructions, treatment with this drug will bear fruit only subject to the rules of a healthy lifestyle, in particular, a certain diet. Drinking alcohol during a course of treatment will nullify its entire beneficial effect - in this case there is no point in taking Carsil. Contraindications to its use are minimal, but they still exist: without the recommendation of a doctor, you should not take Karsil to those who suffer from various hormonal disorders - the drug may have an estrogen-like effect. Consult with a specialist for endometriosis of the uterus, myoma, as well as carcinomas.
Karsil is available in tablets containing 22.5 mg of silymarin. There is also the drug "Karsil forte" - capsules of 90 mg. Tablets are taken by adults and children over 12 years of age, 1-2 pieces, three times a day. They are swallowed whole and washed down with plenty of water. In difficult cases, this dose can be doubled. Children from 5 to 12 years of age are prescribed 3 mg per kilogram of body weight per day. This dose is distributed 2-3 times. Karsil forte is taken by adults and children from 12 years old - 2-3 times a day, one capsule. The duration of treatment is determined only by the doctor, on average, it is about 3 months.
Side effects of the drug are rare. They, as a rule, arise in case of hypersensitivity to its components (Karsil contains, in particular, sucrose and wheat starch as auxiliary substances ). In this case, nausea and diarrhea, itching and skin rashes are possible. If the patient has certain disorders of the vestibular apparatus, they can be aggravated as a result of taking the drug "Karsil". The description of the instructions attached to this drug suggests that such cases are extremely rare, but they should not be discounted. These symptoms can pose a serious danger to a patient who spends a lot of time behind the wheel - therefore, drivers should carefully take the drug "Carsil". The contraindications to it listed in the instructions do not contain a ban on driving, but it is advisable to limit driving whenever possible to persons with certain vestibular disorders.
In case of side effects, the drug should be discontinued. After that, they will soon disappear by themselves. In case of accidental overdose of Karsil, you need to take activated charcoal and, if possible, empty your stomach, and also seek medical help.
In the vast majority of cases, Karsil is well tolerated by both adults and children. However, even if you are not afraid of the side effects sometimes noted when taking the “Karsil” preparation, it is still worth consulting with a specialist. This drug is able to enhance or, conversely, reduce the effectiveness of other drugs, which should be considered when appointing it.
Data on the effect of the drug on the body of a pregnant woman and the fetus are not available. Therefore, to use or not during pregnancy "Karsil", to which there are few contraindications, it is necessary to decide individually.
