The Old House (Novosibirsk) is a drama theater that was founded back in 1933. He became popular in the city even before World War II. And today it remains one of the most visited in Novosibirsk.
Mobile theater
The history of the theater began back in the 30s. Then he formed as a traveling team. The first years he traveled around the Novosibirsk region and was considered a branch of the oldest city theater called the Red Torch.
At that time, the repertoire of the theater included plays by Ostrovsky, Gorky and Korneychuk. And in addition to performances, artists on stage danced, sang songs, recited poems.
By 1937, the troupe of the theater visited more than 17 districts, played more than 240 performances. All plans were overfulfilled. And in 1943, the "Old House" received the status of a regional theater.
Post-war years
The beginning of a serious flowering is the 60s. Simon Ioanidi comes to the post of artistic director. Thanks to him, the Old House Theater gets its permanent stage. The mobile team was founded in a house built according to the project of A. D. Kryachkov. And all this happened at a time when similar troupes in the USSR disbanded.
On a permanent stage, first such performances were staged as:

Since 1975, new directors begin to come in one by one to the “Old House” (Novosibirsk):
- Vladimir Chernyadev brought with him plays based on the works of contemporary authors (Vampilov, Rasputin, Volodin).
- Izyaslav Borisov opened a new era in the theater. He invites famous artists, composer Gobernik and artist Fateev to work. The performances staged by him immediately receive not only excellent reviews from the audience, but also delightful odes from theater experts.
- Simon Verkhgradsky, in which the theater gets a new name - "Old House". Novosibirsk today has preserved this unique, but speaking name. The fact is that this cultural institution is located in one of the oldest buildings in the city.
