Many people are unaware that there are stones or sand in their kidneys. They learn about it at the moment when severe pain in the kidney area occurs when stones pass through the urinary canal. It's about urolithiasis. Thus, urolithiasis is a disease due to which sand and kidney stones form. As a rule, this disease is congenital and is a metabolic failure, resulting in the formation of insoluble salts, which eventually turn into phosphate stones in the kidneys, sometimes other types of stones form . Sand is formed due to changes in water and salt metabolism and blood composition.
Some factors contribute to the development of the disease:
- hot climate;
- the composition of the consumed products and water;
- lack of vitamins;
- diseases of the intestines and stomach;
- diseases of the genitourinary system and kidneys;
- sedentary lifestyle;
- hereditary factor;
- deformation of the urinary canal.
It is important to know that there are four types of kidney stones:
1. Calcium stones are observed in 70% of sick people.
2. Urate stones are present in 15% of people.
3. Struvite stones are found in 12% of people.
4. Cystine stones are often observed in 2% of people.
It is extremely important to correctly determine the type of stones to prevent their re-formation.
It can be noted that a disease such as kidney stones can produce different symptoms depending on the location of the stones and their type. Usually, the disease has a latent form and is detected by chance or in the case when the size of the stones coincides with the diameter of the urinary canal, and pain in the lumbar region occurs. If the kidney stones are medium in size, a person may experience renal colic, while the color of the urine becomes different from healthy, sand and stones, as well as blood, can be observed. In this case, pain can intensify without special reasons, especially during urination. In humans, body temperature and blood pressure often increase. With prolonged walking or physical exertion, pain usually intensifies and bothers until the stone leaves the urinary canal. It is important to know that if pus is found in the urine, it is said that the stones are infected. Blockage of the urinary canal can lead to anuria, that is, to a complete absence of urine output.
With urolithiasis, other disorders of the genitourinary system often occur, such as acute pyelonephritis, infection of the kidney, which may necessitate its removal, acute cystitis.
If there is a pain in the lumbar region, you must consult a doctor, undergo examination and treatment. Diagnosis requires analysis of urine and blood, ultrasound is also widespread, in which sand and stones are detected, their location in the organs of the genitourinary system, the degree of their damage and changes is determined. Another diagnostic method is nephroscintigraphy, which allows you to scan the kidneys, as well as urography, which allows you to take pictures of the genitourinary system. Thus, after making an accurate diagnosis, appropriate treatment is prescribed.
Doctors carry out either medication or surgery. The treatment without surgical intervention became widespread. In this case, kidney stones are excreted with diuretics. Various ointments, oils and warm compresses are also well suited for these purposes.
The doctor can offer a medical method of treatment for the inflammatory process in the genitourinary system, while using antibacterial drugs and other modern means, the action of which is aimed at removing sand and stones from the urinary canal. During the treatment of this disease, you must adhere to a special diet. This disease is not a sentence; it is treated quite successfully.
