Summer, the beach and sunburns are inextricably linked in my mind. Even if there is a huge selection of tanning products in stores, this trouble happens periodically. Looking ahead, I want to say that to relieve pain and speedy healing of the skin, we, the whole family, have long been using Panthenol, a cream from a domestic manufacturer - Nizhpharm. And more recently, I discovered new facets of this unique product, which I want to tell my readers about.
Once, having run into the pharmacy to replenish the supplies of medicines, I did not find my favorite product there. I must say that the cream "Panthenol Ratiopharm" from a German manufacturer, was five times more expensive, so it was decided to save. The kind pharmacist, learning about my problem, suggested that I buy instead of cream Pantonol foam from Farmon, since it also contains the active substance dexpanthenol.
Arriving home, I decided to study the composition and instructions in more detail. It turned out that the product is suitable not only for medicinal purposes, but also for everyday skin and face skin care. Indications for use: burns, including sunburn, cuts, abrasions, dryness and irritation.
I admit honestly, for a long time I have been struggling with my sensitive skin, which reacts ungratefully to anti-aging creams. It is worth trying something from the series “expensive, but very effective”, and the skin of the face burns for at least a week, itches, reddens and swells. By the way, I did not find any means to combat this scourge. Nothing helped. Neither inward nor outwardly. Therefore, the promises of manufacturers of "Panthenol" I took note. Soon I had the chance to make sure that this was not an advertising ploy. Foam really very quickly removed redness, irritation and itching.
After that, my interest in creams and ointments containing dexpanthenol increased. I decided to figure out how they differ from each other and how they can be used.
Let's start with the popular Panthenol Ratiopharm product. The ointment contains at least 5% of the active substance. Basis - white petrolatum, distilled water and dexpanthenol. In addition, the drug includes citric acid, potassium sorbate, and wool wax. The composition is given for ointments made in Germany.
And now let's see what “Panthenol” cream is. The content of the active substance remains the same. But the basis is various oils: bisabolol (chamomile), African shea, sea buckthorn. In addition, the composition of the cream includes bioline - a prebiotic that stimulates the protective mechanisms of the skin.
Of course, the composition of the cream varies depending on the manufacturer. But even with a superficial analysis, it becomes clear that the ointment is more viscous and oily in consistency. It is absorbed worse than cream, so it is hardly suitable for everyday use. It is all the more undesirable to use it for face skin or a large surface of the body. Vaseline clogs the pores, and the appearance of acne may well cause.
In our family , my son tested Pantenol ointment for the treatment of herpes. Of course, it was not possible to get rid of the infection itself, but the sores healed quite quickly. By the way, it was the ointment that helped ; Panthenol cream did not give such results.
The composition of the foam, in addition to the active substance, includes extracts of calendula, chamomile, comfrey. They relieve itching, redness, irritation, soften the skin, contribute to its speedy regeneration. The light consistency is quickly absorbed and does not leave a greasy sheen, so the foam can be used to care for sensitive skin in winter or summer.
Spray "Panthenol", as you know, is based on only water and the active substance. It is used for the same purpose as ointment and cream. Keep in mind that for wet wounds, including thermal and sunburn, the spray is more suitable.
When I began to collect information on the topic "Panthenol", reviews about the drug were also not spared. And I learned a lot of interesting things for myself. Personally, I never paid attention to the fact that many hair care products contain panthenol. Now my Panthenol spray has another use. I add it to hair masks. By the way, the effect is amazing. The hair is shiny, smooth and does not split at all.
As you can see for yourself, "Panthenol" (cream, ointment or spray) must certainly be in every medicine cabinet. And mummies, I’d like to add that a baby powder with D-panthenol has now appeared on sale.
