Eric Benet: biography, music albums, photos

Eric Benét was born on October 15, 1966 in the northern United States, in the city of Milwaukee, which stands on Lake Michigan, Wisconsin.

When he was 18, he, along with his cousin, like all novice performers, recorded a demo or draft soundtrack for distribution to music publishers (labels). Despite the first unsuccessful attempts, the guys did not despair and continued to make their way onto the stage.

Patience and a little effort. So, Eric finally got the opportunity to collaborate with the Gerard Entertainment Group, which was located in Milwaukee. Thus, the first music group "Gerard" was created, in which Eric worked for three years. His sister Lizi sang there too.

All this time they had the opportunity to record on the company's equipment, as a result of which the guys got decent musical material.

Eric and Lizzie sent demos to Atlanta at a convention for record workers who selected "future stars" every year. That year, 20 applicants from a thousand participants were selected. Among the public were Kate Sweet, O'Jays, Herald Liberty and other figures in the music industry.

Lisa and Eric were given the opportunity to address the public.

Career start: Eric Benet

Rejecting the offer of one major producer, his brother and sister were still successful and signed a cooperation agreement with Sami McKinney, which helped Benet to appear in Capital Record.

As a result, in 1992 they released their first and only album, for the recording of which the famous masters of modern jazz were involved.

True, the disc was not successful, only one single hit the charts, so Lisa left the music.

But Eric, despite the tragic events in his personal life (his wife died in a car accident in 1994, leaving his one-year-old daughter Indiana), continued to move forward and managed to make a career as a musician and singer:

  • in 1996, he released with Warner Brothers the first solo album True To Myself (True About Myself);
  • Eric Benet released the album A Day In The Life (1999), one of the album’s songs became a radio hit, and his duet with Tamia Spend My Life With You rose to the first position of the R and B charts in 1999 , was nominated for a Grammy and other awards;
  • in the same year, Eric Benet collaborated on the Earth band, which was dedicated to the band’s thirtieth anniversary since its founding.

Personal life

In 2001, Eric Benet married a second time Hollywood star Holly Bury. Daughters at that time was already seven years old. The actress said that, kneeling, gave her a ring, read poetry and asked him to marry him. Holly promised in return to become a real mother for his orphaned daughter.

Holly and Eric were happy in a marriage, which, however, did not last long. In 2004, the couple divorced, a year before Eric Benet released Hurricane.

Well-known producer David Foster helped Eric with the release of the album.

It includes the song "India", dedicated to his beloved daughter. In general, Eric Benet is an artist of music and does not prevent his daughter from singing, but rather supports her in every way. The girl has a soft and melodious voice, she often happens at her father's concerts.

Passing a spark of talent, like any artist, Eric Benet does the best that can be done for his daughter - establishes a true connection with the child, helping her to stand on her feet, not to get lost in the world of show business.

In addition to music and poetry, Eric has many other hobbies. And one of them is the movie. He starred, for example, in such films: "Shine", "For Your Love" (For Your Love).

He continues to write music and poetry. He is charismatic, charming and women like. Perhaps his daughter will have some other mother.

At the moment, Eric devotes a lot of time to his daughter, concerts and finding new opportunities for music, studying Spanish. Experiments, moving forward and striving for a goal will help the musician find new wings and be in demand by the industry.
