Monastic buckwheat is a dish that has long been known in Russia. It was usually cooked during various fasts, when, according to the rules, believers were allowed to eat only junk food. The porridge was first cooked in monasteries, which became the main reason why it got such an unusual name. Traditional option

The secret of this dish is that it contains a huge amount of vitamins and other useful substances, which are essential for the normal functioning of the human body. In addition, monastic buckwheat is very simple to prepare and requires a minimum set of basic ingredients: half a glass of buckwheat groats 1 onion, 150 grams of any wild mushrooms, ground black pepper, 200 milliliters of boiling water, salt and a little vegetable oil.

In accordance with the traditional recipe, the entire procedure takes no more than half an hour. To get real buckwheat in a monastic way, you need:

  1. Rinse the mushrooms, peel, and then put them in an ordinary pan, pour cold water and put to cook for about 20 minutes.
  2. After this, the liquid can be drained, and the products can be cooled and gently cut into thin strips.
  3. Peel the onion, crumble the cubes and fry it a little in vegetable oil.
  4. After this, prepared mushrooms should be added to it. In the process of frying, they should acquire a pleasant golden hue.
  5. Then, in a pan, pour buckwheat and fry the products together for no more than 3 minutes.
  6. Next, the contents should be poured with water, cover tightly and cook until the cereal is completely ready.

For complete confidence, you must let the dish stand for another 3-4 minutes, and after that you can safely call everyone to the table.

Porridge in the microwave

Nowadays, almost every kitchen has a different technique that helps housewives solve all the problems associated with cooking. So, ordinary buckwheat in a monastic way can appear on the table in just a few minutes, if the house has a microwave. For work you will need: 100 grams of buckwheat and the same amount of fresh (or frozen) mushrooms, a pinch of salt, ½ onion and 90 grams of vegetable oil.

The process will consist of several successive stages:

  1. Mushrooms, if necessary, must first be thawed.
  2. After that, they, along with peeled onions, need to be cut into cubes.
  3. Carefully sort, buckwheat, rinse and wet, pour water for 15 minutes.
  4. First, fry the onions in a microwave at maximum power for three minutes.
  5. Then add mushrooms to it and repeat the procedure with the same parameters.
  6. Pour buckwheat and fill everything with water so that it is half a centimeter higher than the contents.
  7. Set the power of the device to 80 percent and withstand products for 5 minutes under such conditions. After all this, they should just stand for 10 minutes.
  8. Repeat the heating procedure.
  9. Add salt, mix and warm the food again. This time it will take only minutes.

Multicooker Recipe

No less delicious is buckwheat in a monastic manner in a slow cooker. In recent years, this unit has been particularly popular. The main ingredients, in principle, remain the same: 300 grams of buckwheat, 1 large onion, 200 grams of fresh champignons, salt, 100 milliliters of vegetable oil and 2 cups of water.

The process technology is simple:

  1. Cut the onion into 4 parts, and then finely chop.
  2. Pour oil into the multicooker bowl. Pour onions and whole mushrooms there.
  3. Set the mode "Frying" and wait 10 minutes, not forgetting to constantly stir the food.
  4. Rinse buckwheat and add to the bowl.
  5. Add water, salt, and then cover the lid and set the "Cereals" mode for 35 minutes.

Non-standard option

When the post is over, you can no longer adhere to restrictions. Now every believer can afford any dish. Especially good in this case is buckwheat in a monastic way with meat. For its preparation you will need: ½ cup buckwheat, 150 grams of beef, carrots, salt, 50 grams of fresh green peas, onions, bay leaves and 300 milliliters of meat broth.

The dish is prepared in a rather original way:

  1. Pour beef with cold water and boil until cooked. The first broth is best drained to prevent harmful substances from entering it. In 15-20 minutes add salt, bay leaf and onion.
  2. Grind boiled beef in a meat grinder and lay the resulting minced meat evenly on the bottom of the clay pot.
  3. Top with grated carrots, peas and washed buckwheat.
  4. Pour all this into the broth and put in the oven for about 1 hour. The temperature inside by this time should be 180 degrees.
  5. As soon as all the water disappears, you need to wait 10 minutes, and then mix the contents of the pot and serve to the table, laying it on plates.
