The drug "No-spa" before childbirth

Most women who are expecting a baby are afraid to take any kind of medication, for fear of harming the baby. Indeed, it is worth doing this only on the recommendation of a specialist who examines the expectant mother before the birth of a child. The drug "No-spa" before childbirth is prescribed by a doctor in order to reduce the tone of smooth muscles and their motor activity, as well as to expand the blood vessels of the woman in labor.

Quite often, experts advise women expecting a baby to keep this antispasmodic drug on hand and use it for stomach pains. But-shpa before childbirth does not have a negative effect on the fetus, which compares favorably with other medicines.

This drug is of plant origin. Up to six tablets can be taken per day (usually two to three times a day with severe pain in the lower abdomen, with complaints of a hard and dense uterus).

The drug β€œNo-spa" is also prescribed before childbirth because it helps to stabilize the cardiac activity of the fetus located in the womb and reduces the risk of uterine rupture (which is especially important for women with impaired elasticity due to cauterization of erosion). This drug helps to reduce the pain of the woman in labor, and also normalizes the contractile activity of the uterine muscles.

The drug "No-spa" is taken before childbirth only if there is a recommendation from the attending physician. Otherwise, using this product alone is not recommended, since it has contraindications: acute hepatic, renal, cardiac, or isthmic-cervical (impaired cervical obstruction function) insufficiency. Also, no-shpu should be carefully taken for those women who have low blood pressure. If such pathologies were not detected, the indicated remedy will not bring harm to the health of both the mother and the child.

But still, one should not forget that the No-Shpa preparation for pregnant women is also a medicine. And it is necessary to take it only when absolutely necessary. In this case, it can be considered as an ambulance before contacting your doctor. The instructions for the drug indicate that during gestation, it should be taken with extreme caution.

No-spa, the composition of which determines its antispasmodic effect, can cause the following side effects:

- allergic reactions;

- nausea;

- constipation;

- dizziness and headaches;

- rapid pulse ;

- fatigue, weakness;

- loss of appetite.

The main active ingredient of the drug - drotaverine - effectively relaxes the smooth muscles of the uterus, which reduces pain, but can lead to miscarriage or premature birth. That is why in the second and third semester of pregnancy, this drug is used as a last resort.

Sometimes this medication is administered intramuscularly, and in some situations, the No-Shpa drug in tablets is prescribed by a specialist together with papaverine in suppositories (they have a similar algorithm of action, but simultaneous use enhances the therapeutic effect). Only the doctor decides whether the future mother needs such a combination of drugs.

Despite the clinically proven safety of the above drug, its use for pregnant women is prohibited in England and Germany (since there is information about the effect of this drug on the development of the child’s speech apparatus), and in the USA it cannot be found in pharmacies, since it is not used as a medicine at all. As for Russia, here the No-Shpa drug is the main tool for quick and painless removal of the tone of the uterus of the future mother.
