A comprehensive medication that includes antimicrobial components of a wide spectrum of exposure. The drug adversely affects gram-positive, as well as gram-negative and anaerobic microorganisms.
Highly effective against sources of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and E. coli. Ointment "Ranosan" activates the regenerative processes in the wound, has a moderate hemostatic effect, absorbs discharge from the wound, provides enhanced healing.
Used for the treatment of superficial, as well as lacerated and postoperative wounds, with necrosis of soft tissues, dermatitis and other skin diseases in animals.
"Ranosan" is an ointment for eliminating surgical and traumatic wounds, pressure sores, as well as frostbite, inflammation of the skin and soft tissues. The drug is intended for external use. The composition of the drug includes the following active substances:
- Dioxidine.
- Methyluracil.
- Chloramphenicol.
- Lidocaine hydrochloride.
In addition, additional components are included in the structure of the medication:
- zinc oxide;
- petroleum jelly;
- wool wax.
The drug is dispensed in plastic jars, closed with a lid, ten and thirty grams each. Instructions for use are attached.
Pharmacological actions
Ranosan ointment has an extensive spectrum of antimicrobial effects, activates regenerative processes in tissues, and absorbs wound exudate.
Dioxidine has a bactericidal and bacteriostatic effect on staphylococci, enterococci, clostridia, streptococci, francicella, brucella, fusobacteria, spirochetes, gonococci, chlamydia, helicobacteria, which provoke infections of the skin and soft tissues.
Methyluracil and dioxidine adversely affect infections caused by proteome, as well as salmonella, staphylococci, streptococci, including sources of gas gangrene.
They act on bacteria that are resistant to other chemotherapeutic drugs. Lidocaine has an analgesic effect, the spectrum of which is based on a decrease or complete inhibition of the excitability of sensitive nerve endings and inhibition of the passage of a nerve impulse through neurons.
Zinc oxide has a healing effect. With external application of the drug, the active substances are practically not absorbed and do not accumulate in the organs and tissues of the animal.
Ointment "Ranosan" by the degree of action on the body refers to low-hazard components, in the recommended dosages it does not have a toxic and irritating effect.
Indications and contraindications
The drug is used externally for the treatment of surgical and traumatic lesions, as well as wound surfaces, burns, pressure sores, frostbite. In addition, the effect of the composition is aimed at eliminating inflammation of the skin and soft tissues, provoked by bacteria sensitive to methyluracil and dioxidine.
The ointment is used for preventive purposes, in order to avoid the penetration of infections into the body - after removing the reproductive organs, stopping the tails and ears, suturing. The medication is not recommended for use in cases of damage to more than ten percent of the surface of the animal's body.
According to reviews, ointment "Ranosan" should not be used in conjunction with other similarly prescribed drugs for external use. The medication is not intended for productive animals.
Instructions for use
Before using the drug, the affected area is cleansed:
- remove wool;
- clean the wound surface from dirt, crusts, scabs;
- washed with antimicrobial solutions.
According to the instructions, Ranosan ointment for animals is applied in a thin layer to the damaged cover using a special scapula, glass stick or cotton swab, evenly distributing the drug from the edges to the center of the affected area, with the capture of healthy skin up to one centimeter, once a day daily until complete overgrowth of the damaged epidermis.
On open wounds, gauze napkins with ointment should be applied and fixed with a bandage. The drug is introduced into the cavity wound surfaces by the drainage method.
Adverse reactions
There is no information about complications and negative effects when applying Ranosan ointment. With increased individual sensitivity of animals to methyluracil and dioxidine, the use of the drug is stopped. It is not recommended to allow the licking of the drug by animals and its entry into the visual organs.
The use of a medication does not exclude the use of other drugs of specific and symptomatic treatment.
Features

Storage conditions
Keep the medicine in its original packaging, away from food and feed, as well as in a dry, dark place, at a temperature of plus two to twenty-five degrees. The drug must be stored in places inaccessible to children and animals.
The shelf life in the original packaging, subject to all storage rules, is twenty-four months from the date of manufacture. It is not recommended to use the drug after the expiration date.
