Dialysis is a smart way to treat kidney disease

The kidneys are the main organ responsible for filtering the blood in the human body. If you have problems with them, and the accumulated waste and fluid in your body worsen your health, then dialysis can come to the rescue. This is a treatment that partially fulfills the responsibilities of a healthy kidney.

In order to understand whether there is a need for kidney dialysis, each patient takes blood to analyze the content of chemicals in it. The most important indicators are: urea nitrogen and - creatinine. An increase in these two norms is the first sign that the kidneys do not fully cope with their function by about 85-90 percent. But if a person has severe malaise, complaints of the heart, lungs and stomach, then treatment can be prescribed without taking into account the results of the analysis.

In medicine, there are several types of dialysis:

1) Hemodialysis - a person’s circulatory system through membranes and filters is connected to a special device that passes all the patient’s blood.

2) Peritoneal dialysis - a special solution is introduced through the abdominal cavity (wall) with the help of surgical intervention, which is excreted after a couple of hours.

Usually, during hemodialysis, you need to give 3-4 hours a week 2-3 times a week. During this time, the medical staff several times measures the pressure and adjusts the dialyzer so that blood is pumped in the body and the right amount of fluid is excreted.

When peritoneal dialysis is performed, the filter uses the tissues of the human body. The intestine is located in the abdominal cavity, occupying the space between the abdominal wall and the spine. During the procedure, a catheter is inserted, with the help of which a special solution washing the intestines is injected, and the walls play the role of a filter between the fluid and the bloodstream. A variety of solutions help get rid of both excess fluid and waste. Such a procedure usually takes up to half an hour, but it must be carried out 4-5 times a day (it can also be done at night). The patient is taught the procedure, and he independently his abdominal cavity treatment solution, which after filtration is excreted from the body. The advantage of this method is that there is no constant need to be in a hospital.

If a person begins to develop chronic renal failure, dialysis will help maintain the body's condition in a relative norm, before a kidney transplant.

To conduct the next blood purification procedure, the patient should come to a medical center equipped with the necessary devices of appropriate quality.
