A year before the start of filming, Martin tried on this role for himself, doubting whether he could convey the essence of his hero, explain his actions, goals and desires. But still, the actor’s instinct did not let him down; he realized that Martin and Bilbo are one.
In the trilogy, viewers could watch how courage, determination, self-confidence gradually grew in the hero of the film. In the end, the hero of Martin was able to withstand the circumstances of life, which he taught to kill without looking back, without thinking about the motives, withhold thoughts, his actions from prying eyes, quickly respond to situations and instantly make a decision.
As the scenario unfolds, the hero of the film gradually entered the intoxicating power of the Ring of Power. Bilbo’s obsession in the film constantly keeps the audience in good shape, frightening him with his unpredictability. The audience remembered the game and other characters in the film "The Hobbit". Actors were also selected carefully and diligently.
Other characters in the trilogy
Particular attention is given to the gnomes in the film. Closer acquaintance of the audience will happen with Thorin Oakenshield (actor Richard Armitage), Keely (actor Aidan Turner). The latter will be asked to play a plot that is absent as such in the story and in the afterword to The Lord of the Rings, painted on 125 pages.
For the film, the director and scriptwriters invented new characters. This is the captain commander of the squad of elves. Tauriel is the new incarnation of an elven woman.
In contrast to the dreamy, sensitive Arwen, a new image of the beautiful elf appears. This role was taken by Evangeline Lilly. She had to learn fencing techniques, with which she successfully coped.
The language spoken by the elves was invented by the author of The Lord of the Rings. A lot was different from the original Hobbit. The actors and the roles played by them were able to fully convey the director’s idea.
Elf added a little femininity, endowed with special energy. With the figures of Tauriel and Keely, the plot gained dynamism. Once again, all the spectators are pleased with the favorite of women Legolas (actor Orlando Bloom). Years did not change the actor, is also refined and flexible in relations with others. Well, goodwill has disappeared in the Hobbit trilogy. Actors welcomed such changes, they wanted to show the audience that they can be different.
Spectacular small roles
The guarantee of success was the appearance on the screen of Legolas. The king of the forest was brilliantly played by Lee Pace - arrogant and elegant at the same time, cold and handsome in his sophisticated beauty Thranduil, who decided to imprison the elves.
Luke Evans fit perfectly into the role of Bard. Everything in his presence happens by chance: wandering gnomes, and a dryer in the house for the network.
Who is the dragon?
The second "The Hobbit" impressed its viewers with the main gift. This is a computer character that has nothing human but a voice. When the film was dubbed, the cast did not really overlap with each other. It was worth the effort to record the monologue speech of the dragon, a thirty-meter fire-breathing monster. Smaug was voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, but the Russian viewer did not appreciate his velvet voice, as the understudy said.
