The drug 'Diazolin' (for children) - instructions for use

The medicine “Diazolin” (the international name is “mebhydrolin”) is a drug that has been used for many years to treat allergies in adults and children. This drug refers to antihistamines, or histamine H1 receptor blockers. Despite the fact that today there are several dozens of similar drugs on the Russian pharmaceutical market, the Diazolin medication is still very popular, being in the third and fourth places in various regions in terms of sales in the corresponding drug group. Of course, not least of all, this situation is explained by its low price, but this is not the only point: the drug has established itself as an effective, effective remedy that quickly brings relief.

The medicine "Diazolin" for children and adults is prescribed for any manifestations of allergies. It effectively relieves swelling of the mucosa, eliminates itching and skin rashes. Its use can be recommended for atopic dermatitis, pollinosis, urticaria, eczema, bronchial asthma. The drug "Diazolin" recommends children's use for children, including with insect bites: its use helps to quickly eliminate itching and reduce swelling. However, this medicine, like most others, should not be prescribed to children on their own: there are serious contraindications to its use.

The drug "Diazolin" for children (instructions for use of the drug draws special attention to this), as well as in the "adult" dosage, should not be taken by those who suffer from peptic ulcer. This drug has the property of irritating the gastric mucosa, so it is prescribed with caution in gastritis. In addition, paradoxically, there are known cases of allergies to the medication “Diazolin” itself, which is manifested by itching and rash. Therefore, if the drug has been taken for a long time, but the patient’s condition is only worsened, it is worth consulting a doctor - perhaps there is a case of his individual intolerance. An absolute contraindication to the prescription of this drug is a tendency to convulsions, as well as the age of up to two years.

The Diazolin medication is for children - this is emphasized by the instructions for the use of the drug - it differs from the means for treating adults, primarily in its dosage. In one dragee for children - 0.05 g of diazolin, for adult patients - 0.1 g. Babies over two years of age are prescribed one dragee to receive, up to two times a day, older than five years - two to three times. The exact daily dose and number of doses of the drug is determined by the doctor. It can be reduced in diseases of the liver and kidneys. In addition to dragees, the drug "Diazolin" in the form of granules is produced for children. A suspension is prepared from them by adding 100 ml of hot (+40 - + 50 degrees) boiled water to the bottle and thoroughly mixing its contents for several minutes. A single dose of the suspension for children two to three years old is 2.5 ml, four - six - 5 ml, seven - ten - 7.5 ml. Take it three times a day, be sure to shake it before use. To take the drug “Diazolin" (for children), the instruction recommends 5-7 days. The duration of the course for adults is determined by the attending physician, based on the nature and severity of allergic manifestations.

Side effects of the drug can occur as a result of taking an "adult" dose, and after the appointment of the drug "Diazolin children." Instructions for use indicate the possibility of pain in the stomach, dry mouth, drowsiness and fatigue, blurred vision. Most often, however, they arise due to an overdose of the drug. In most cases, it is well tolerated by both adults and young patients, and in the absence of contraindications it can be recommended as an effective antihistamine.
