Story line

Probably everyone remembers the sweet boy Peter Pan, who did not want to grow up, and therefore ran away from home to Netlandia. There he met with the fairies, among whom he found a girlfriend - Tinker Bell. Peter's worst enemy is Captain Hook. In the series Once Upon a Time, Peter Pan is played by actor Robert Andrew, who is often called Robbie Kaye. By the way, this is the only film adaptation where Peng became a negative character. The move is interesting and very exciting, especially since the main introductory notes have been saved. Peter Pan lives in Netland, communicates with fairies. His island is full of boys, but they are not there of their own free will. They are abducted. Peter appeared in Netland first and took control of the original inhabitant of the island - Shadow. In the story, Peter is looking for a boy with the heart of a true believer in order to save himself and gain immortality. He finds such a person and tells him that he must sacrifice his heart to save the magic of the island.

Background

How did Peter Pan linger in Once Upon a Time? Actor Robbie Kay was a real find. Especially the audience was impressed by his eyes - such adults with the appearance of a young angel. Indeed, in the course of the development of the plot, it turns out that Peter Pan is the father of Rumpelstiltskin, and his real name is Malcolm. In the enchanted Forest, Malcolm was an outcast, unhappy, self-centered, and cowardly. Then he made a deal with Shadow and received eternal youth in exchange for giving up his own son. Once in the Enchanted Forest, Malcolm takes on a new name, "Peter Pan" in honor of his son’s toys. He manages to take the heart of a true believer from Henry, but afterwards he encounters Regina (formerly the Evil Queen), who rips out his heart. However, Peter Pan dies at the hands of his son Rumpelstiltskin, having managed to curse the whole city. But that's not all, because later Peter Pan returns to Storybrooke from the Underworld.

The story of Robbie

The performer of the role of Peter Pan in "Once Upon a Time" - actor Robbie Kay - is only 21 years old. He lives in the Czech Republic, is fond of rugby and football. He came to the cinema out of sheer curiosity when at school he saw an announcement about the recruitment of actors for the shooting. Experience was not enough, but Robbie got a role in the film "The Illusionist." True, during the final editing, his scene was cut out, but they began to give small roles in other films. There were shootings in the films "Hannibal: Ascension" and "My Boy Jack", and after the Canadian film company approved him for the role of Jacob in the film "Shards".

Next was the “Pinocchio's Magic Story” in tandem with Bob Hoskinsky and Thomas Sangster. Today, Kay has 14 works, including the role of Peter Pan in Once Upon a Time. The actor devoted three years to this hero - from 2013 to 2016.

In his words

What about Peter Pan from Once Upon a Time? The actor and the role categorically do not match, but outwardly it is an exact hit. Robbie Kay was related to his character and was able to justify or at least accept his actions. His Peng finds a way out of any situation and, despite obvious negative qualities, manages to arouse sympathy and a bit of pity among the audience. Still, Robbie was able to convey the character of the hero, his loneliness and fear of real life. Kaye's first thought before filming was an admiration for the general idea. I was interested in the approach of producers who want to show the usual characters from those sides from which no one sees them. According to Robbie, Peter Pan is a very powerful villain. The actor liked to play the role of a cult character with peculiar values and manners that other people are not used to.

Work in a fairy tale

Immediately joined the team of the series "Once Upon a Time" Peter Pan. Actors and photos from the filming retain only positive moments in their memory. Robbie Kay himself discovered Neverland in a new way, because in the series this is an ominous place with a jungle and weapons. The boys - the inhabitants of these places - are not very friendly with strangers. Hero Robbie often surprised not only the audience, but also the performer himself. Kei's lively emotion can be seen in the episode when it turned out that Peng is the father of Rumpelstiltskin. The actor was taken aback by this news, and such a reaction revealed the character differently.

Just a creative duet with Rumpelstiltskin became the most interesting in Kay's work. It was very strange and interesting for a 20-year-old to play father Robert Carlisle. On the set, jokes about the father-son theme were abundant. This was a serious task for Robbie Kay, because Robert Carlyle has recognition in film and television, and the guy needed to play his father, who became 18 years old. However, the young actor did it. The audience noted the depth of his gaze and the amazing contrast of the adult eyes and appearance of the young man.

On the set, the actors were completely immersed in a fabulous atmosphere. And if earlier it seemed to many that they grew out of fairy tales, now it turned out that fairy tales just need to be able to tell in a new way. For example, the idea of fleeing in the story of Peter Pan resonates with many children. And the actors were attracted by the opportunity to change people's opinions about this tale.

Work on the Once Upon a Time project gave a lot to young talent, as he not only embodied the essence of the negative character, but also managed to adapt to a new environment for his hero. In some episodes, the complexity of the game increased even more, as Robbie played not only a boy with an adult mind and experience, but also Peter Pan after exchanging bodies with Henry. It was real madness, albeit very funny.

For such a reincarnation, within the framework of one appearance, Robbie needed to study the facial expressions and movements of Jared Gilmore in order to put the necessary accents at the physiological level. Regarding the final scenes, Robbie Kay is quite optimistic. He believes that his hero got what he deserved, and the final shot was the only true one.
