Biography
Mikhail Chernov is a musician who was born in Leningrad, on Ligovka, on January 26, 1941. During the blockade, our hero's family was evacuated, and his father died at the front. In school years, the future musician was engaged in boxing. 1959 introduces changes in familiar life. It was then that our hero began to study music within the walls of the Leningrad College of Railway Transport. Learns to play the guitar. In the same period, Mikhail Chernov mastered the alto saxophone and clarinet. He takes part in student activities. From 1962 to 1967 he served in the military orchestra. During this period he created a jazz band. He performed with him at various army amateur festivals.
Creativity and activity
During his service, Mikhail Chernov met two Alexei - Kozlov and Kuznetsov. Subsequently, both became famous jazzmen. In 1967, our hero was demobilized. After that, he began playing the saxophone, clarinet and flute as part of the Odessa Jazz Orchestra of Evgeny Bolotinsky. Continued this activity until 1970.
In 1974, our hero returns to Leningrad. Soon he became a student at the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College. I chose the pop department, the class of flute and saxophone. He studied under Gennady Holstein. The latter is a famous jazz saxophonist. During the study, our hero played in the ensembles of Valery Mysovsky, David Goloshchekin, the Joseph Weinstein Orchestra. He took part in the annual festival called "Autumn Rhythms".
In 1978 he graduated from the school of N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov. Receives a red diploma. Then she became a student at the Leningrad Conservatory. Chooses an extramural department. Soon the educational activity of our hero begins. In 1979, the musician as part of the Oleg Lundstrem Orchestra takes part in the cultural program of the Olympic Games in Moscow. In 1981-1985 our hero leads the ensemble, which accompanies a vocal group in the jazz club "Square". Together with the ensemble he became the laureate of jazz festivals in Baku and Arkhangelsk.
In 1983 he graduated from the Leningrad State Conservatory. In the same period, our hero became the head of a dance orchestra working at the Lensovet Palace of Culture.
Rock
Since 1984, Mikhail Chernov has been involved in the creation of albums by Petersburg groups. Among them were: “DDT”, “Myths”, “Zoo”, “Alice”, “Aquarium”. From 1988 to 2010, he became a permanent member of one of these groups. This is a DDT, where he plays the flute and saxophone. He is the author of symphonic arrangements of the compositions of the group. In his free time at DDT, he played in the team of Old Carthage by Ildar Kazakhanov. In 2010, he left the DDT group.
Interesting Facts
Mikhail Chernov is currently continuing to work with a blues band called Forrest Gump. The album "Equilibrium", recorded by the group "Electric Partisans", contains the song "Eternal Jazz (Uncle Misha)" by Vadim Kurylyov. This composition is dedicated to our hero.
The first hobbies of our hero were rock and roll and yard songs. The fact is that his youth passed during the Khrushchev thaw. Our hero recalled how in 1956 he became one of the first in his hometown to play Rock Around the Clock. He heard this song on a company record, which was brought from abroad by one of his relatives. It is little known that in the early years our hero had to work in the cafe "North". Among the musician's students were Boris Borisov, Denis Medvedev, Alexander Zhuravlev, Igor Butman.
