Antiseptic for local treatment "Lizobakt": instructions for use

The medicine "Lizobakt", the instructions for use which describe in detail its effect and composition, is a drug in the form of tablets, intended for resorption in the oral cavity. Its main components are lysozyme (lysozyme hydrochloride) and pyridoxine (pyridoxine hydrochloride). The first of these substances, an enzyme with antiseptic properties, has an antibacterial effect. Destroying the cell membranes of pathogenic viruses, fungi and bacteria, it causes a violation of their functions and, ultimately, death. For the human body, lysozyme is a familiar and natural substance: it is found in saliva, the mucous membrane of the digestive tract, the mucous secretion of the upper respiratory tract - that is, in those places that can become the entrance gate to infection. Its concentration is high in breast milk - several times more than in cow.

Pyridoxine or vitamin B6 also plays an important role in the Lizobact preparation: the instructions for use indicate that this substance promotes the regeneration of mucous membranes affected by the infection. In addition, pyridoxine is a strong antioxidant, stimulates metabolism and is involved in the synthesis of red blood cells. The drug "Lizobakt", the instruction for use of which contains complete information about its properties, is, therefore, an effective tool for the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases of the mucous membrane of the larynx and oral cavity.

Treatment with the drug "Lizobakt" consists in its slow absorption. Children over 12 years of age and adults are prescribed two tablets three to four times a day. They must be kept in the oral cavity until dissolved and for at least half an hour after that do not eat or drink. The recommended dose of this drug for children 3–7 years old is one tablet three times a day, and 7–12 four times a day. The indicative course of treatment is eight days, but if there are indications, the period of taking the drug "Lizobact" (instructions for use indicates this) can be extended by the attending physician. If necessary, the drug can be prescribed for children up to three years: the tablet or its part is ground into powder.

Indications for the use of the drug "Lizobact" are, first of all, infectious and inflammatory ENT diseases, accompanied by catarrhal phenomena. According to reviews, the condition of patients as a result of its use improves already on the third or fourth day. Lizobact tablets with angina, at the same time, according to some patients, do not bring the desired result, however, it should be understood that, firstly, the effect of their administration does not appear immediately, and, secondly, they should be used in combination with other medicines: it is impossible to cure a sore throat with this medication alone. With stomatitis, including herpetic and aphthous, and erosion of the oral mucosa, its effect is quite effective.

The drug "Lizobakt" can be used to prevent complications after tonsillectomy . Some use it for preventive purposes and during epidemics of SARS, dissolving in the oral cavity in the morning, before leaving the house. This drug is the only one of the few that are allowed to be taken during pregnancy. Lizobact tablets are also not prohibited during breastfeeding: pyridoxine penetrates into breast milk in a small amount, but is not able to harm the baby.

However, reviews indicate the possibility of allergic reactions to this drug. Persons prone to allergies should use it with caution, and if dry mouth, itching, swelling of the mucous membranes or rash immediately stop taking the drug "Lizobakt" and consult a doctor. In no case should you exceed the recommended dose or take the drug for longer than the doctor advises. Do not swallow the tablets: they are designed specifically for resorption, and in this case there will be no effect from their intake.

As for the interaction of the Lizobact medication with other drugs, one must remember: while taking it with a number of antibacterial drugs (chloramphenicol, penicillin), it can enhance the effect of their use. In addition, people with Parkinson's disease should be aware that the drug "Lizobakt" reduces the effectiveness of levodopa.
