Latvian pies with speck is an interesting way to diversify the usual dinners. For cooking you will need:

  • 300 grams of flour;
  • a pound of speck;
  • a glass of milk;
  • a pack of margarine;
  • 50 grams of yeast, living, not from a sachet;
  • a tablespoon of sugar;
  • one chicken egg, fresh;
  • medium onion;
  • some salt and pepper.

First, yeast is crumbled in the container, mixed with sugar. Cover the bowl with a towel and leave it in a warm place for at least half an hour. During this time, you can just cook the filling. Speck cut into cubes, onions into small pieces. The mixture is salted and pepper. Do not forget that the speck is salty. Therefore, it is worth trying the dish.

Latvian cakes with speck

The margarine is melted in a water bath, diluted with milk. The resulting liquid is combined with yeast. Flour is sieved immediately in a bowl with the rest of the ingredients. Now everyone is mixing. The dough is oily, well mixed. For final cooking, put it in the refrigerator for at least forty minutes.

The finished dough is rolled out, cut into triangles. In the middle put peck and onion. You can wrap pies in various ways, for example, like a croissant. They are baked in the oven at a temperature of about two hundred degrees. The time depends on the size of the baking. Small pies will be ready in about 20 minutes.
