MJ (real name is Mary Jane Watson) is a minor comic book character about Spiderman and Peter Parker's love interest.
History and debut
Initially, Mary Jane was a "voiceover" character in Peter Parker stories. The very first mention of her was made in the 15th edition of the solo series about Spider-Man, when the aunt of the main character really wanted to introduce him to her. The second time, the MJ appeared already in issue 25, but then her face was closed and she never saw Peter. A full-fledged debut of the character and her acquaintance with Parker occurred in The Amazing Spider-Man No. 42.
Biography
Peter Parker met Mary Jane Watson thanks to his aunt, who had long wanted to bring him to her. When Parker studied at the university, he met with Gwen Stacy, and MJ at that time was in a relationship with Harry Osborne. Shortly before Osborne the Younger sat down on psychotropic drugs, the girl broke up with him.
After some time, a terrible tragedy happened in the life of Spider-Man: Gwen Stacy , the love of his life, died due to the fault of the green goblin supervillain. Having recovered after this grief, Peter began to show sympathy for Mary Jane Watson, to which she reciprocated. Their relationship went so far that Parker even made her an offer of marriage. Unfortunately, the girl rejected this offer, and after a long time flew to Florida for family affairs.
During the absence of MJ, Spider-Man managed to be in a relationship with Deborah Whitman and Felicia Hardy, who were unsuccessful. When Mary Jane returned from Florida, she again gradually began to get closer to Peter. Soon, MJ admitted that she always knew about his superhero activities. After this revelation, the girl decided to tell Parker a secret from her personal life. As it turned out, all her childhood she grew up in a dysfunctional family, she always had to pretend to be a cheerful and frivolous girl, so as not to think about the problems of her relatives. This conversation brought them even closer, and after a while they got married.
Married life
Peter made a second proposal to Mary Jane Watson, to which she replied positively. At first, the newly-married couple did well: the wedding went great, they moved to a new apartment, and MJ became a sought-after fashion model. But soon serious problems began connected with the superhero life of Peter and the modeling career of Mary Jane. At first, the girl almost became a victim of Venom supervillain, and then she was kidnapped by a crazy admirer Jonathan Caesar. Despite the fact that Venom and Caesar were eventually defeated, the latter even managed to destroy the career of MJ from the prison cell.
The heroine had to restore her reputation through filming in the soap opera Secret Hospital. Alas, the difficulties in the life of Mary Jane Watson did not end there. Problems with her husband’s superhero activities, clashes with supervillains, meeting inappropriate fans at the Secret Hospital, as well as smoking caused by the recent death of Harry Osborn and the mysterious return of Peter’s parents negatively impacted her psychological health.
Pregnancy
During the Clone Saga story, MJ became pregnant. In parallel with these events, Peter lost his ability and ceased to be a Spiderman. Together with Mary Jane Watson, he moved to another city, and transferred the heroic mantle to his clone Ben Reilly. Towards the end of the Clone Saga, everything returned to its place: Peter reappeared his powers, he returned to heroism as Spider-Man, and Ben Reilly died tragically, fighting with the Green Goblin. At the same time, he had to go through another tragic event: a woman poured a substance into Mary Jane's soup, which provoked a miscarriage. It soon turned out that Norman Osborne, to whom she had brought the baby, had set up all this. It is still unclear whether this child is alive or not.
After these events, Peter and MJ went through a course of psychotherapy, and their life gradually began to improve. They moved to live in Manhattan with her aunt, Mary Jane went to study as a psychologist and returned to her modeling career, and Peter continued to combine his superhero activities with the work of a photographer. But all this came to an end when the secret pursuer MJ destroyed the plane on which she flew. As it turned out over time, the girl actually survived, but was held captive by the mysterious Stalker. Spiderman managed to defeat him, but Mary Jane realized that she could no longer return to her previous life and moved to Los Angeles.
Deal with the devil
After a long separation, Peter and Mary Jane reunited. For a long time their marriage was happy, but everything changed with the onset of the Civil War. During this event, the whole world learned the secret of the identity of Spider-Man, because of which Aunt May was severely affected. To save her from death, Peter and Mary Jane made a deal with Mephisto. The evil demon saved the old woman’s life, but in return took the love of these two. On this relationship, Peter and Mary Jane ended.
