How it all began
In the post-revolutionary period, researchers repeatedly raised the issue of organizing a single military museum. However, their desire was not realized at that time. And the fault was the plight of the People's Commissariat of Education. But the military department refused to finance this project. It explained this by the fact that the soldiers would only harm the exploits of the defenders of the old regime. But in 1919, they nevertheless decided to create a Museum of the Soviet Army. Such changes were due to the fact that the main crisis of the civil war was over. M.K. Sokolovsky was entrusted with managing the process of creating the institution, since he was the greatest specialist in the field of military museum affairs. In order to perpetuate the exploits of the Defenders of the Fatherland, premises were allocated located on the ground floor of the store, known today as GUM. But when distributing the shopping malls, the museum managers did not show persistence, and as a result, they mainly got the lines of the Vetoshny Row.
New exhibits
The following years were marked by a significant replenishment of museum complexes. The staff of the institution promptly responded to any reforms in the defense field of the Russian Federation. Samples of new types of weapons, manufactured military equipment, as well as personal protective equipment very quickly appeared before the eyes of visitors.
Central Museum of the Soviet Army
This institution was founded in late 1919. Its expositions completely convey the history of the development of the Armed Forces of our country, from the moment they were born to the present day. One can rightfully say that this is one of the most outstanding military museums in the world, which has more than 800 thousand exhibits in its collection. This includes rarities that are directly related to the life of the heroes of national history. And here you can find objects belonging not only to statesmen or military leaders, but also to ordinary soldiers. In the museum you can see awards, banners, elements of weapons and used equipment, as well as equipment of military personnel. And here are relics of both our country and other states. In addition, visitors can familiarize themselves with a number of captured items. Everyone can see how our country has developed in terms of weapons since 1918. For this purpose, an exposition of military equipment was created, which is located on an open observation deck. It holds over 150 exhibits in its area, from artillery to ballistic missiles.
Events
The Museum of the Soviet Army periodically organizes expositions. And not only in its territory. So, many times, many exhibits of the defense industry were exhibited at other sites in Moscow.
